Coronavirus Hysteria · 1:08am Mar 10th, 2020
While there is some cause for concern, honestly I think much of what’s going on with the coronavirus is just mass hysteria largely driven by mass media coverage. In reality the virus only has a 2-3% mortality rate, even less if you’re younger, which means it’s really not much more dangerous than the average flu. It seems to just be scary because it’s novel, which means no vaccine exists for it yet. But I think people should remain calm since you’re unlikely to get it and very unlikely to die from it.
Hopefully as summer nears the disease and the hysteria will die out. I have a hunch it will, but who knows. Just my two cents.
The people who died have usually had weak lungs or compromised immune systems.
I think everyone needs to chill out about it. Most people who have it are just gonna think they have the flu, go home, and get better. And that's it.

Yeah, like most diseases the vulnerable populations like the elderly or people who are compromised in some other way are most at risk. There’s almost no deaths among younger people especially.

Yup.
A person is smart, people are not.
