It's been a while since I've done one of these, peel back the curtain to reveal a snippet of the current status of my life. In today's emotional climate, I figured nobody would mind some good news.
So, I'm happy to announce that I found a new job! I could have sworn I'd shared this already, as I got hired over two months ago, but somehow it slipped my mind. Maybe I wanted to make sure it would pan out? Anyway, it's far better than the position I was let go from in essentially every respect. I'm paid more, it's more intellectually stimulating, and best of all, they actually use my creative input on projects. The work environment is also low urgency enough that I can, for example, write a blog post in the middle of a slow shift and nobody cares. Even the industry itself is way cooler: we're making advanced bomb detectors, more accurate and informative than current options, to better save lives. Since the company is so small, I have job security too, as I'm literally the sole CAD/Mechanical engineer on staff.
As such, plans are in motion for me to finally move out of my parent's house into my own apartment, likely around the end of March. I've mooched off of them long enough, and while they appreciate my company, my mother, especially, is a bit much these days. Picture Firelight, but with a shoddy memory and the anxiety of season one Twilight. Moreover, as my sister is halfway across the country, with a slim chance of ending up in a jobless limbo, this'll let them downsize to a ranch house in the future.
Again, before you ask, I'm not leaving the fandom any time soon. This is a new chapter, not an ending. Well, okay, this paragraph is an ending, technically, but you get the gist.
Glad to hear about both the job and home fronts. Here's hoping things continue to go well.
Sweet! Having a job is always something worth celebrating.
Ah, congratulations on the new job, and good luck! Glad it sounds like it's been going well so far.
Hope the move goes well!
