It's the obligatory new year blog post.

And yes, I am posting this at around midnight on new year. I have a nasty cold, so I decided to disobey nurgle's one command and stay home.

    Just for kicks

I'm mucking around with Lulu for a work-related project (very boring stuff) and thought I would do a quality test with something fun.

    The odd things

I've just been reading through old comments on my scraps story, after publishing yet another chunk from the ancient cutting room floor. It's remarkable how many of the commenters are still around - but also how many logged off for the last time, soon after making their last comment there.

You like The Rembrandts? · 10:49pm Mar 3rd, 2020

Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes. But when Untitled came out in 92, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisps sound, and a new sheen of consumate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. They've been compared to Weezer, but I think the group has a far more optimistic, forward-thinking sense of humour.

In 95, the Rembrandts released LP, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is I'll Be There for You, a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should! Because it's not just about the comfort and companionship of friendship, it's also a statement about the two leads of the bands themselves!

Dang, that was a truly awesome video, thanks for the share. I'll admit I didn't know nothing about the Rembrandts outside of their song being on Friends, but now I'm curious.
