My thoughts on why Russia is obliterated in the universe of Steven Universe · 5:07am Feb 19th, 2020
As you can see in the world map of Steven Universe, Russia is missing a huge chunk of land area in the middle of Siberia and the red dot in the very center indicates one of the Gem facilities.
I think that the Crewniverse intended this as a response to Russia's Gay Propaganda Law and anti-LGBT hate crimes. Also, Ruby wearing a wedding dress in Reunited would be considered a middle finger to Russia censoring Ruby with a moustache in Jail Break.
Since Russia is notorious for their hostility towards homosexuality, the Crewniverse decided to have the country obliterated as they believed that homophobia will never ever be tolerated in the universe of Steven Universe. They strongly believe that everyone deserves to live in peace and harmony, regardless of gender identity and sexual orientation.
Look like south America took a chunk out of Africa, the Asian nation is getting really friendly and decided to live closer, away from China and Australia...drifting?.

Quite funny, but not exactly. There are episodes that took place in the winter season. Winter Forecast, Three Gems and a Baby, Gem Hunt, and Snow Day.
BTW, holidays such as Halloween and Christmas don't exist in the show.

But they had a thanksgiving thing with Steven's Uncle who had the plane. (what was his name, I cannot remember it which was sad because I rather liked how that episode concluded at least from what I remember)
