Sonic the Hedgehog has passed Detective Pikachu for biggest domestic box office debut for a film based on a video game.

It is Jim Carrey's biggest debut since Bruce Almighty in 2003.

I want to offer a very sincere congratulations to Sega and Paramount Animation. After the first trailer received considerable fan backlash, you didn't lash back. You didn't call us trolls or toxic. You listened to your fans, you reacted to that criticism, and delayed the film to make the necessary changes. Bigger companies could certainly learn from you. You have most certainly earned these accolades.

If you still harbor any doubts, go see this movie. It's cute, funny, and Jim Carrey is full of that manic comedic genius that launched his career in the 90's.

Aside from flossing, twice, and a random fart joke, it was an enjoyable film.

Well as far as I’ve heard, none of the animators, actors, or the director got slews of death threats or ongoing harassment, so that’s probably why they don’t have as much to complain about. I don’t think it was just the casual or lifelong fans complaining that made them change it. It was literally everyone who saw that trailer, all the ‘normies’ and fresh customers they were trying to rope in.

I kept telling everyone Sonic would kill Birds of Prey but no one would listen. Low and behold look what happened

Meh of all the fortnight things they could include the dance was fine. Honestly some of those dances are funny as Hell but then again I play uncharted 4 and I dance taunt on people all the time so I am a little bias.

I’m glad to hear it did well. Especially since I’d like to see more classic Jim Carey in the future, and if this bombed I think that would hurt those chances.

Let's hope it gets a sequel!!! :D :D :D :yay: :yay: :yay:

I'm glad that the fans gave the studios the box office numbers to justify the backlash! I'll definitely be seeing it.

I'm glad that with Detective Pikachu and Sonic we're starting to get good video game films.

Now let's hope both get sequels that are just as good.

Seeing it Tuesday with my brother in law
