The Sun Never Sets Changelog- Post Chapter 09 · 1:54am Feb 16th, 2020
First off, apologies for the time between updates!
I've been working on refining the world of The Sun Never Sets, which involves going back and correcting really tiny details that are cluttering my worldbuilding up. The overall narrative hasn't changed, but I've gone and contextualized some things, or rephrased some dialogue so the character's intentions and understandings of things are clearer. I've documented all of that here, in the literary equivalent of patch notes.
I'll try to do this as little as possible in the future, but I will always create one if I feel I have to change things, and have the easily accessible so the readers who follow along real time aren't left in the dark.
Chapter 00
- Sunset's sword is described differently.
It's long handle was a dark grey color, and it's crossguard held the shape of two closed wings, with a tendril of flame going up the flat of the sword. It's pommel had a shape in line with the sun imagery on the jacket.
- Twilight's motives are less directly stated by Celestia, to avoid conflict with her true motives being shown through the story.
"Why does she even want that amulet anyway?"
"She wants the power it contains... Sunset, the gates of the demon realm are slowly reopening, and I fear Twilight may only be led to open them again."
Chapter 08
- --The description of the book Selene reads from has changed.
Chapter 09
- I've changed the name of Sunset's sword. I will not be taking questions about that at this time.
- The second energy blade on Twilight's sword has been removed. It's a detail I thought I'd do something with but it's not relevant anymore. Now, she takes a hit in order to get a hit on Nightmare Moon.
- Twilight also has an implied demon moment during her fight with Nightmare Moon, when she looks into her eyes for too long.
- Starlight's "Guess you haven't changed" is now "Guess you really have changed", as this line makes more sense given their history and her awareness of Twilight's character at the time.
- Likewise, Twilight's response becomes "But you haven't."
- Following this, Twilight's "Either you stay here and die for nothing, or you leave, get stronger, and come back” becomes "If you stay here, you'll die for nothing. You're not strong enough to handle this, so go home.” This reinforces Starlight's inferiority complex.
