Monster[Hub] - An Idea for a Future Story

So there has been this idea I've had bouncing around in my head for a while now that I thought I would bring up and share in a few of the forums (one being this group, right here). Surprisingly, there have been a few individuals here and there who expressed interest and so I thought I would discuss this story idea and see what you all thought.

Monster[Hub]

While the title is a joking reference to a certain website of ill repute (if you don't know then don't worry about it, as it is a joke and it isn't truly important if you know what the website is... anyway), the story will probably be rated T for Teens and merely have the sex tag for suggestive content.

The concept is that one day, Twilight discovers that a package has been sent to her from her friend, Moondancer, who has been missing for two years now. Opening the box, Twilight sees that it is filled with notebooks each numbered, with a note confirming that the package is in fact from her and that the books within are her journals, explaining what has happened to her since the time of her disappearance.

Both concerned for her friend as well as excited by having more reading material, Twilight proceeds to read the journals.

As it would turn out, one evening Moondancer had discovered something messing around in her closet and she proceeded to follow the creature. Passing through a mysterious door at the back of her closet, Moondancer finds herself in another world filled with monster. By mistake, Moondancer breaks her door (interdimensional doors in this world are exclusive to the one who opens them so if the door breaks they can't return to their world even if they were able to find another hub with another door) and is unable to return.

When she awakens Moondancer learns that she will need to work off the repair fees if she wishes to return home. Because of this, Moondancer is assigned a caretaker and proceeds to work at a cafe called the Brewing Hub, a location where ponies from numerous dimensions can enter the world of Typhonia (the name of this world ruled by monsters) and visit.

While she is working at the cafe, Moondancer discovers that a few of the monsters seem to be romantically interested in her. To make matters more concerning, prior to her disappearance Moondancer had secretly pondered the idea of falling in love with creatures that weren't ponies. Will Moondancer be able to leave this world or will she fall in love and be trapped here forever?

Now here comes the fun part.

So while I don't intend for this story to be as interactive as my current story Ask Roseate Grimsbane (which is going great by the way), as I would like to have the story finished this time before I start releasing chapters, I do have a way that I think would be kind of fun for your guys to affect this story.

And it's actually quite simple if you think about it.

Design A Monstrous Date

If there are going to be monsters to woe Moondancer, then that have to come from somewhere, and while I do have a few designs in my back pocket, I thought it would be fun to give you all the ability to create characters to influence the story.

If your character is chosen, you will be credited since they are technically an OC made by you. Of course, since I am not wanting to give away too much detail about the world yet, matters pertaining to the background might change, but I will try to work with you via PM to make sure that those changes don't ruin your enjoyment of the character.

There are four open slots for our romantic dates, which you can all fill.

I will even provide a template for you all, to make things easier.

There are only four rules that must be followed:

1. The character must be male.
2. The character has to be straight (aside from it being for obvious reasons, I just don't feel comfortable writing homosexual characters and I don't want to offend anyone. Sorry).
3. The monster must possess 4 or more legs (maximum of eight, additional limbs might be acceptable) or function like some ponies and be able to shift between quadrupedal and bipedal. this is partially to make them relatable to ponies.
4. Can't be any bigger then three times that of a normal pony, because otherwise that would make things difficult.

Aside from that feel free to create whatever you like (though do try to be serious). Now behold the template.

Monster Template:

• Name: What are they called by? Do they have a nickname?
• Species Name: there are numerous breeds of monster after all.
• Personality: How does your monster perceive/interact with the world?
• Appearance: How does your monster look? Describe them for us.
• Abilities: Does your monster have any unique abilities caused by their monstrous traits? These abilities are akin to what is seen in Monsters Inc/Monster Hunter World, though there are some with horns/antler like body structures that allow them magic that is on par with that of a unicorn.
• Likes: What is something they enjoy? What are their hobbies?
• Dislikes: What do they hate most? What drives them nuts?
• Background: How did they grow up? Do they have any family members? What is their occupation? Etc...

You may either post your entry as a comment here or send it to me via PM. I currently don't have a deadline for this as I have a few stories I need to finish, so... I guess you all have plenty of time. Just follow the rules and have fun.

Update:
I wanted to do a bit of an update on this. First, I want to thank you all for your contributions. Second, while there are some newer entries that I like, a few things have become a bit repetitive, so now that there are two slots left, I thought I would mention a few things I am looking for as well as clarify a few things.

First, I would like to clarify that aside from the moments of the story where Twilight is reading Moondancer's journals and the occasional flashback, the story does take place in Equestria or even the same planet but in another world entirely. So character backgrounds involving events that occurred the show or Equestria's history will need some adjusting.

Now let's talk about what I will be looking for, for the monsters in the two remaining slots.

• Appearance: I've been seeing a lot of black. If possible I would prefer to cut back on black, blue and purple characters. A red or yellow/gold character would be awesome.
• Personality: We've had some timid/laid-back monsters, which is awesome but we need to cover up the other side of the spectrum too. If we could get a bad boy with a heart of gold or a snobby rich monster who perhaps finds humility, that would be great.

So, I don't have an entry, but I'd like to commend you for creating the template in such a way that it's clear you're looking for characters and not just one-note "this is a (species) that does (species) things" jokes. My suggestion is to have a chapter consisting of a montage of the latter, just to lampoon the tropes of the supernatural romance genre this is technically in. Alternatively, have a chapter start that way but turn out to all be the same shapeshifter ending on the old Be Yourself canard actually, no, we're not wasting an alternate-dimension premise on something we could have used a changeling for.

Yeah, that's not a bad idea. I'm not sure how I would work it in, since I am trying to be a bit more original with the monsters in this universe. But still, it could happen.

As for the shapeshifter concept, it doesn't necessarily have to be shapeshifter. It could be a chameleon like monster that always changes his color based on what others tell him instead of sticking to whatever color he feels like.

[Grey Ghost]

• Name: Splice, also goes by Sli
• Species Name: Omnius Adapticus
• Personality: Splice is a consummate goofball. Always chipper, he always has a joke or funny phrase at the ready. Has a quirk of coming up with catchy tunes on the spot. Generally tries to be a pleasant person.
• Appearance: A van sized lizard like wolf. Covered in bone armor. Has a shaggy, hair metal like electric blue mane that continues along his spine down to the tip of his tail. Can easily switch from bipedal to hexapedal.
• Abilities: Regeneration, though regrowing limbs/massive parts of the body requires biomass. Able to adapt and counter against most things, and incorporate the traits of others into self. These usually only last a few days. Can be made permanent, but requires a months long hibernation. Can pass on permanent adaptions to offspring.
• Likes: Music, dancing, animals, practical jokes, smart women whose words go over his head
• Dislikes: Sport Hunting, technical manuals, the color mauve, buzzkills
• Background: Raised by a single father, Splice is one of the few members in a slow reproducing species. With a love of nature and his adaptive abilities, Splice went into the pest removal business. However, he only ever exterminates when he has to. Most creatures are relocated to better homes, with at least one per job kept by himself as a pet.

Would it be okay for him to be 2-3 times the size of a normal pony? Aside from the size, I could actually see this character having a fair bit of potential.

Is his bone armor like armor plating or shards of bone like the Radobaan from monster hunter worlds?

presonallyied: mosly laid back, kind, sometimes annoying, and almost always super nice, but if you diss on Pluto be ready for at least 5 minutes of talking how Pluto is the greatest Planet to live on. once your are friends with him, he will go insane lengths to just help you out with even the tiniest of problems wether or not it is healthy for him to do said lengths. If you ask him glass half full/half empty type of pony he simply replies "What's in the glass?" Crazy smart for most of math, suck in grammar almost always talked in past tense.
looks: almost always wearing the same faded purple hoody with a picture of plutsayinging 'Always a planet to me.' other then that he wears pants and having blue and orange shoes but only the back half of the feet. Other then these things xJay looks like a normal pegesus pony but  will notice only the left wing is the only wing left on xJay.
Powers: able to to still fly despite only having one wing.
Likes: Pluto the planet, his faded purple hoody, blue and orange shoes, and math.
Dilikes: ponies dissing on Pluto, sucks at grammar, and math.
Background: in another timeline where Princess Luna hit the moon(making the famous crater), while landing on Pluto instead. Do to complcations that no one wants to know Princess Luna have a baby with one of the locals on Pluto, Princess Luna poof back to Equestia after the birth of xJay, and taking in by the father that raised him to be a good pony, and once xJay was older he keeps on searching for his mom, and the last place he have heard Luna was at this place, unknowing that his love life will change very soon.

Species: anthro cheshire cat( similar to the one from the mlp movie) in

Personality: Positive realist( see world as it is and wishes to change it for the better slowly) , hugger, slightly depressed/in need of a shoulder to lean on

Appearance: Tall, runners build, black fur with bronze/brass stripes and hair, charcoal suit, gold tie, pine tree wood cane with amber crystal topper

Abilities: like discord but can only summon from the same dimension, can't make something from nothing, likes to semi-follow the laws of physics (semi-space magic/physics magic)

Likes: reading, tinkering, and fencing

Dislikes: muscle heads, know-it-alls, arrogance, and injustice

Background: abusive father(caused him to be violent/ calculating), empathic mother( caused him to have empathy and a just heart), and grew up poor( caused him to be a smart spender and to take interest in making his own supplies [oven, fridge, car, etc.])

• Name: Armo Dillo Dee or Roly for short
• Species: Pill Bug Changepony
• Personality: A stubborn, lonely, blunt, speaks to but a few who he choose as friend, he is very clingy to new friends that he even but with a good heart. He may go hog wild when given "food"*. *Almost anything organic from edible to down right toxic.
• Appearance: He is an eight-legged pony that is hunched back as his vivid green curved carapace covers most if not all of his back. He is twice as big as a pony . His legs cover 1/3 of his height on which has crab like claw on each end which acts like hoof when closed. Being a bottom feeder makes him really smelly coming from his work as well as forgetting to wash himself.
• Abilities: Having traits of a rolly polly bugs lets him curl into a ball. He can move around in that form like a ball and also carrying personal items with room to spare as he can carry a whole pony. His tough carapace protects him from most forms physical and magical attacks. His habits and job of being exposed to sewage and garbage, he has an immunity to almost all forms of poison even eating any food no matter the state. He can climb rough surfaces, breath under water and eat any form of organic matter even if it is rotten.
• Likes: Prefers quiet atmospheres but not afraid to stray towards different noisy places if he enjoys it. He may prefer wet forms of food but any food would do even if it is food scarps. He like to see smiles from everyone even if it's only from afar.
• Dislikes: Not much in terms of dislikes but he doesn't like to feel hungry due to his gluttonous attitude. He really dislike it if others are hurt or abused even helping poor young ones without an expected repay.
• Background: He works and lives near the sewage system eating what scraps he can find as work is minimum wage. He has no contact with family as he hatched in the landfill growing up with other insects and bottom feeders alone. When he encountered one of the garbage workers who took him in as a pet then as a son when Roly grew smarter and started learning. He teaches Poly about the world around them which amazed at everything as well as knowing what is good and bad. Growing up in the dump made him need more than just familial love a love of friendship. He tried going outside beyond the landfill and try to interact with the populace but most just either run away from him from fear, disgust or both.

Name: Sol Gladius.

Species Name: Vivens Conquietus

Personality: Straight-laced, but gentle. He has the courage to face dragons, but when put into a situation with a pretty mare, he will stammer and blush. But do not make fun of the Rulers in front of him. He is fiercely loyal to them. He is also old fashioned and speaks with the old Ponish mannerisms.

Appearance: He looks like a regular pony, if that pony were to be irradiated and left to rot for a thousand odd years. His skin is a sickly pale green, there are parts of his body where the skin rotted off completely and you can see the bone. His jaw is held on by a few thin strands of tendon. His cutie mark, or what's left of it, is a gleaming blade. He still has one eye in his head. The other one rotted out years ago.

Abilities: Regeneration, to a mild degree. The ability to take a hit and keep standing. (Headshots don't work on this zombie!) Complete numbness to pain. (That part of his brain rotted out 5 years ago.)

Likes: History, art, good conversation, a nice walk, a friendly sword fight, a bit of adventure and action. Oh, and movies, because they are all new to him.

Dislikes: Cruelty, dishonesty, mayonnaise, some of the modern attitudes (you darn kids!), and most of all, disrespect towards the Royal Sisters. (He did die for them, after all.) Also Discord.

Background: 1020 years ago, Sol Gladius was a noble knight for Princess Celestia and Luna. But during the fateful battle with King Sombra, he took a crossbow bolt to the throat. He died, but in the dark void of death, he met Discord, who offered him another chance at life. Sol took that deal, but Discord tricked him. He sent him to an alternate universe. (The one the story takes place in.) Discord did bring him back to life, but as a zombie. Now a monster, he cannot return to the home he loves. Instead, he has decided to make the most of his life here. He mostly works odd jobs, and keeps to himself.

• Species Name: wolf hybrid
• Personality: void is the tough guy that acts harsh and is known for getting into some kind of mischief. He was confident not overly but he walked tall.
• Appearance: imagine a wolf the size of 1and a half ponies. His body slender keeping a slim profile to his body. Sprouting from his head is a set of elk antlers. His fur is pure white.his eyes are a vibrant gold.
• Abilities: His species could cast magic like a unicorn his magic color is gold.
• Likes: Metal/rock, to go out with friends. Taking risks
• Dislikes: he does not like lieing. Big guy on loyalty. He really really really hates the sound of chewing drives him bonkers.
• Background: he was raised by his hard working mother who sadly spent most of the days working and not greatly focused on him but she tried. This caused him to grow up poor and earned that chip on his shoulder if he wanted something he had to fight to get it. He was known to break some rules. Hed be considered chaotic good like han solo.

Name: El Cazador (Or to his dismay, just Caz.)

Species Name: Esuritio Textor

Personality: Petty, ready to snap at the smallest inconvenience, and incredibly done with everything. He has all the charm of an alligator with a toothache.
Imagine Church from Red vs. Blue.
However, he is not a complete jerk. If you treat him well, he will treat you well. Under all that snark and cynicism, he does care about those around him.

Appearance: Imagine a spider the size of a minotaur. Now mesh a more humanoid like body onto the thorax. His body is brown and hairy, with some dark green spots, except for around the joints, where the flesh is a pale green. His front two limbs have hand like appendages, but they are very spindly. He has large sharp teeth, eight limbs, two chelicera, and sixteen eyes.

Abilities: Aside from the usual stuff spiders can do, he also has a certain degree of control over animals. He has mild psychic abilities, but they can only be activated through touch. He also can release pheromones that can cause paranoia and fear.

Likes: Peace, quiet, a nice walk through the woods, black coffee, and the thrill of the hunt. He loves small animals and the show, "My Miniature Centaurs". (But don't let anyone know that. He has a reputation to uphold.)

Dislikes: Social interaction, idiots, smug idiots, lawyers, anything lactose, and people getting his order wrong. He also hates people who kick kittens, but don't let anyone know that.

Background: Raised by his mother with all 439 of his siblings, he grew up pretty good for a spider. Eating stuff, hunting, and spooking the locals were favourite pastimes of his. Eventually, he landed a job as a guardian of a temple, but after messing up one time, he got fired. After a couple of other failures, he started to become cynical and antisocial. He eventually landed a job as a hotel manager, where he has to try and mask his disgust for everyone. But, hey, at least the job pays well! He's currently living in a cave/bachelor pad outside of town.
