Summon the Pack: Kindred Summons · 1:58am Feb 14th, 2020

About a month ago, I told you all about AlexTFish's ongoing attempts to turn my various card blogs into a functional set. Well, now you can playtest with him! Details are in his blog here. I, for one, look forward to seeing just how my creations play.

Ready for anything. Prepared to write the righting of the wrongs!

I suck at Magic, but I want to give this a shot. Maybe my wife, who's better than me at most games, can give me a hand with deckbuilding.

From what I understand, it's a Draft format. By the time you get to the actual deckbuilding stage, it's too late for her input to matter.

Upon clicking the link, it's actually Sealed, which is both worse and better. Worse, in that it's just generally a worse format in terms of the impact of skill. Better, in that that's exactly what you want to hear in terms of having a chance.

Well... I'm up for playesting the set in any format people like  60-card constructed, sealed, draft, Commander, 2-player Solomon draft, whatever people want.

But Sealed is more useful for initial playtests than draft, for this reason: imagine a format where the black cards are significantly weaker/shallower and the blue cards are significantly stronger/deeper. Draft will smooth those out: more people will draft blue and fewer will draft black. But sealed will show up the issue more directly and clearly.
