me checking the dislike ratio on my new story

Glad to know bigotry is still alive and well in this fandom.

It's glad to see some of us didn't watch the same series as I did.

    So where I've been

Okay, uh... how do I begin this? Well, I suppose I should start with the obvious. Yes, I've been distracted. If you follow me on Archive that should be obvious. And if you don't, you totally should btw. Yes, I'm shameless.

Game Reviews: Battlefront 2 (EA) · 5:43pm Feb 12th, 2020

Okay, so I recently picked up a copy of 2 for rent. Now, my thoughts on it. More after the break.

Now, obviously the first and foremost question you and I'd have to ask is... does it feel like classic Battlefront? The short answer would be... yes, yes it does. However, annoyingly most of the good stuff is online-only, so if you don't have an Xbox Live connection, you're fat out of luck. But for the most part, it really feels like the old battlefront games on the original Xbox. And for that, I can call the game a success.

Now, one of my personal favorite experiences? Playing as the Heroes. You know this, and I know this, but there's nothing like charging into the battlefield lightsaber in hand. Now imagine the perspective of the stormtroopers in Crait's darkened mines, when they hear that snap-hiss and see the glow of the blade. Suddenly even Rey becomes scary, and she's an adorable sweetheart. It's not helped by the fact that even though the stormtroopers are named only by numbers and letters, you can hear the screams quite well.

Yeah, maybe Rey's a bit of a mary sue at times but seriously, she's enjoyable to play as. Even got Daisy Ridley, or if not a remarkably good impressionist to return to give her some new lines. Am I babbling? Tell me if I am. Works if you've had a bad day at the office and you need a good venting outlet though. But I really must review the meat and potatoes of Battlefront. Not the story, because who really ever plays that? I mean the actual boots on the ground gameplay. Yes, it works wonders. No real complaints to be had there, aside from how expensive the skins are.

Although the loot boxes are gone, you still need to pay a bit to get crystals to buy skins easily. Or of course, you could really play through the game and get credits. But this will take a while. The other complaint I have is... well, there's no Rebels or Rogue One content. Like, no battle of Scarif or no heroes based on those series. I know several people who'd love to play as Ahsoka or Grand Admiral Thrawn. Okay yeah, let's be fair to Rebels. The style the game uses is mostly based on live-action. Not sure the animated style would translate over well. So, what's Rogue One's excuse?

Now, I should say it's a good game to rent, but... would I buy it? Well, at list price? No. It just doesn't feel like a fifty dollar game.

Now if it were 20 dollars or something... I probably would. But overall? Solid game. It just took a bit to get to that state.

Very well said, Sir Brickmeister. Very well said. :scootangel:

I should say, because you're a fan of Plo Koon, yes you have skins based on his personal clone squadron, the Wolf Pack amongst all the others like the 501st and the 212th Attack Battalion. (Cody's men.)

If I need to vent I fire up Boaderlands 3 select my max level Moze, go to early Pandora, and just start mowing down the local foes. I just like my mecha and how fun having two mini guns can be.

Hmm. Thanks for the info. To be honest I'm not really interested in checking out this game, but it's still nice to see some thoughts on EA's Battlefront 2 that *isn't* raging about microtransactions and all.

I can safely say that the Imperial Stormtrooper Marksmanship thing is a myth here.

Even Battle Droids will lock on target to you, and quickly shoot you to pieces if you don't find a place to hold up or keep moving.
And woe betide you if you're out in the open and there's 4 to 5 soldiers moving in range of you.

5202061
Oh really? Now that *is* interesting... good to see that there's some challenge there.

5202062
Trust me, I was playing on average difficulty, and this may have been due to the fact that I was toughing it out with no squad but the AI is a challenge at times. They will find a way to flank you if you're not in a good defendable position.

Even got Daisy Ridley, or if not a remarkably good impressionist to return to give her some new lines.

Can confirm: Rey is voiced by Daisy Ridley. Similarly, John Boyega voices Finn, Billy Dee Williams voices Lando, and a good chunk of The Clone Wars' cast returned to voice-act for their respective characters.

5202064
Yeah, I did notice a lot of familiar voices. And even some of the substitutes do a fairly good job. Well, most of them. Unmasked Kylo Ren sounds nothing like Adam Driver.

My only question on the heroes is... why were two BB units chosen as heroes? I mean... why?

5202066
Unmasked Kylo Ren is voiced by Roger Craig Smith (a.k.a. Sonic the fucking Hedgehog because sure why not), and Masked Kylo is voiced by Matthew Russell Wood (a.k.a. General KENOBI Grievous and pretty much every Battle Droid)
