Highlights from BronyCon 2019: Mad Munchkin and Dr. Cupid Wolf

Saturday, August 3, 2019: The Third Day of the Final BronyCon

Ah, Saturday. From the get-go, I knew that this would be the high point of my 2019 BronyCon. The panels that I was most looking forward to were all today: TF2 Analysis Anarchy, the Brony D&D prequel one-shot, and Friendship is Magic: The Gathering—all featuring my favorite brony reviewer, joshscorcher.

And it didn’t hurt that I would be completing my autograph collections today, either.

After getting breakfast from the local Cosí, I headed to the Hall of the Sun for the TF2 Analysis Anarchy panel. Epic LineCon was in full swing: there was already a big line for TF2. It was Bronze badge to the rescue once again, as I went to the significantly shorter sponsor line.

I do not remember if an episode of TF2 Analysis Anarchy aired, but I do remember that they showed off an epic trailer for a future TF2 project. [Of course, the trailer has since been uploaded to YouTube; here it is.]

Afterwards, Dr. Wolf asked for Mad Munchkin to come up front. Dr. Wolf presented the Mad Munchkin and Mary Sue plushies that were going to be up for auction at the Vendor Hall. Those plushies were one-of-a-kind, and they were being auctioned off to help Maddie move from Scotland to the United States.

And as Dr. Wolf gave Maddie a few encouraging words, Kickit ninja’d his way behind her. At the end of the speech, Doc had Maddie turn around … and there was Kickit on one knee, ring in hand.

Maddie’s reaction? Of course, she said yes. And after being overwhelmed with emotion, she took the Mary Sue plushie and proclaimed that proposal the “best proposal ever!”

Afterwards, Maddie mentioned that Dr. Wolf was her inspiration for being a brony analyst in the first place, and that it was thanks to Dr. Wolf that she even ended up meeting Kickit. That led to the whole room cheering for Dr. Wolf, the Cupid that brought the two together.

Afterwards, Maddie asked that we not announce things on social media yet; she wanted to be the first to break the news to the Internet. (Good thing that you can delete posts on Twitter and Facebook nowadays, because I’m pretty sure that people went to their phones immediately once they saw the proposal.)

After a few more cheers, the crew said that they would be heading to another part of the convention center to sign autographs. Of course, I had a lot of things that needed autographing, and I would not pass up a chance to talk with joshscorcher once again, so off I went with the rest of the crowd to get those autographs.

A/Ns:
1) Dr. Wolf put up a video of the proposal and the aftermath. You can watch it here.
2) As for the plushie auction, I was not there to see what happened. Fortunately, Maddie put up a video. Go to 11:15 in this video to see the results of the auction. So precious!
