Regarding Commissions · 5:42am Feb 8th, 2020
For those hoping to reach out to me for one or those who I've already discussed commissions with, I'm very sorry to say that I will be closing them for the foreseeable future. The major reason for this is, regrettably, self-discovery of the fact that I lack the proper ability to write at an acceptable standard of quality for most works that are not my own. It seems that a limitation I have, especially with longer works, not of my own idea pool bring on a creative slump and a lack of drive to continue.
Now, if it were simply my own works that were somewhat lacking in a spark and taking forever to be completed, I'd be less worried about it. But due to the fact that not only are commissions work for other people, they are work that these other people have paid money for. I, for one, cannot stand the concept of asking someone to hand over money to me and then delivering a poor product in return, so to avoid this issue, I will not be taking on commissions in the near future.
If I do re-open them, it will be both when I feel more confident in my abilities and after my commission rules have been overhauled slightly. I apologise for this poor performance of mine, and hope I haven't disappointed too many people with this decision.
This is honest amd good.
As a fellow writer, I never got the appeal of commissions either. I know some folks on here and other places thrive on that kind of stuff, but it's really not for me. If you ask me, commissions are more of a thing best suited for visual artists.
I gotta say, I'm really digging this transparency thing you got going on now. It really helps to have that kind of connection with your audience as you regain your footing here. Keep it up! I'm actually impressed so far!
