The Stars Revolt: Friendship Lessons · 10:48pm Feb 1st, 2020

Twilight: "What is one way to be friendly to other beings?"

Shepherd: "Don't kill them."

Twilight: "That was not what I was going for and is an extremely low bar to set but I'll allow it."

Shepherd: "Literally the first thing I met when I got here tried to kill and eat me. That's pretty much the human experience before we became dominant predators, actually."

Twilight: "Buuut you still made friends to overcome these obstacles, right?"

Shepherd: "Right: Friendship let us team up with other humans, and with dogs to kill things trying to eat us. So we eat them first."

Twilight: *beams* "Right! Friendship! Oh boy..."

Definitely not inaccurate, and a low bar all too many have trouble getting over.
But hey, you've gotta start somewhere.

Julie d'Aubigny once fought a duel with a nobleman, winning by running her sword through his shoulder. They later became lovers. Even after the affair ended, they remained life long friends.

So, the “no shooting” thing is more of a guideline, really...

"Why is it whenever your people discover something new, they turn it into a weapon?"

"Because weapons are cool. Also we live on a death world where everything is trying to eat us, or eat our food out from under us and so we learned to eliminate threats with extreme prejudice."

"Bloody humans."

"An apt description."

Something I wrote in a story of mine some time ago. It popped into my head here after reading the plot idea and being an attention whore I posted it. :P

Best couple ever.

Dogs were ruined by humans. That's why I prefer kitties. They were never fully domesticated and will do just fine on their own if humans all suddenly vanish.

Some people joke that cats domesticated us. Looking at the facts, it's uncomfortably close to the truth.
