40K words in, I'm writing a second, even more detailed outline for FoE: Pillars of Society. I've added a couple of plot threads, added a twist...
No, not that kind. Wait, did she survive the war? This is pretty early on in the timeline. 40 EoH or so. It's possible.
ANYWAY, I need to make sure everything still makes sense, because so many of my novels/longfics have died of discovery writing. Like. FIVE OF THEM1. So. New course correction outline.
Can you do that? Outline, and then outline again? 
I don't think I'm publishing this before the second draft. I REALLY want a finished, good, novel length story under my belt. Until then: dumb clopfics. They're easy to write, and they make sure people won't forget me while I work on the other thing.
1 The casualties for longfics: Between a Rock and a Soft Place (don't know how to end it/tone shift), Record of Yak War (lost in all the POV characters), Crystal Balls (tone shift). Casualties for original novels: Hidemarket (sagging middle, plot holes), Masked Hearts (plot holes, also it's phone crap I wrote just to try to be published). Both the orignal novels are complete, just not good enough.
As I recall, Twist got folded into the entity that is Rampage in Project Horizons.

Haha I haven’t finished that yet. Even if I had and even if my thing wasn’t AU I don’t think I’d try to treat PH as canon.
My thing has Cowvegas and Vertibirds and has a MoM goon in power armor in the first chapter. Purists are going to have my head.
