Firefly update · 7:53pm Jan 21st, 2020
As I've been working on Nightmare Night lately and will continue to do so for at least a couple more chapters--I have momentum and a desire to keep working on it at this point since it's near its climax--I haven't put in much work on Firefly lately. There is, however, news on it. The VA work for Firefly continues, and several pieces of artwork/advertising are on the way. More guest chapters are coming, and I have made one minor but important retcon to an earlier chapter:
... I complete this following section just before leaving for the Loyalty, which awaits its aerial duel with the Arnau over the Naval drill fields of Polaris Base. The Commodore of the Polaris group, Prince Blueblood himself, is said to be insulted that his flagship was not selected, but ‘tis certain the Loyalty is the most famous ship of the Royal Navy, and for it, ‘twould be just as much an insult now as it was then to not meet the gryphons with our best.
Yes, Prince Blueblood. There is a good reason for this, one that will only become apparent in time. Sometimes the Prince is depicted as a callous and/or useless fop, other stories have shown him with much more depth. I've depicted him both ways in my stories--see Nightmare Night for the former and Five Star Service for the latter--but for Firefly, we'll get the deeper and more cunning version. Needless to say, the Blueblood line goes back a long way, and it has a claim to military fame that comes from the Great Pony/Gryphon War itself.
I will work on the story as a break from Nightmare Night, but for the time being, it is not the first priority. But be assured it is not forgotten. It will continue before Spring.
Momentum is important, I understand. Especially when heading towards the climax (I see what you did there )
Can't wait for more Firefly though! Cheers
One of my favorites fanfics had a sympathetic Blueblood: The Best Night Ever. You also made the Prince quite sympathetic in Five Star Service. I approve of your decision to give him a place in Firefly as well.
