What is your preferred method of time travel? · 7:00pm Jan 21st, 2020

The past doesn't change. History does not change. The things we do, the things we write here, all the characters and plot ideas and stories that I create and post here, they're here. They're out there, they can't be undone, they can't be taken away. What you do, what you write, every word and even the fractions of words, the lines that make up letters and the sounds syllables make, those are all out there, on here, part of history forever. They cannot be undone. What is done cannot be undone.

And yet... it can. And it can't. And it can, and can't, and will and won't and these are the kinds of contradictions that our minds get into. Are we to assume that the way we think things, our thought process now will always be the same? The linear form of problem solving, the linearity of history, is that all it's going to be? Honestly, even that answer is both simultaneously yes and no.

Life is like an ogre onion. It has layers. Such is reality. That's one of the parts of Dan Vs. that I like to emphasize. There's a surface level and deeper levels. Just because a deeper meaning to something appears doesn't invalidate that surface layer. What is wrong on one level can be right on another, and maybe discovering which layer applies most is where the path forward lies.

Anyway, from now on, I'll try to do a weekly blog post along with weekly updates to Dan Vs. My question for you is, what is your preferred method of time travel? Do you like multiverse theory with different decisions creating alternate timelines or do you like Back to The Future rules where time corrects itself?

Also, I do have a Back to The Future crossover in mind, along with a King of The Hill one. So many ideas and yet only so much time to write them. Sometimes, that makes you consider time travel.

Most everyone seems to forget that when using Einsteins own description of alternate futures, due to the light cone, that when he described the idea, he had each point not only propagating into the fture, but also being reached by a cone of events from the past. So you could have two current points that shared a common past point and future point, but which couldnt see each other at the present time. The multiverse desnt just come into being, it has always been there. then you have the likely fallacy of alternate like pages in a book, totally seperate in all ways. Douglas Adams used the idea of the Whole General Sort Of Mish Mash, and another version is The Tiger In The Living Room. Where all realities use all the notes, not necessarily in the same order.

All that counts is your personal causal event line. For you to exist at any point, the sum of past and future events along that line has to sum to the resultant existance. No matter how convoluted. However theres been some very intresting advances in demonstrating that Feynman Diagrams, no matter how complex, have to sum to the edge and vertex net of a finite volume n dimentional polyhedra, thereby bypassing the ultraviolet catastrophe an giving limitations on quantisation of realities.

The ost extreme abuse of Causal Life is when a super advanced race reaches back and tweaks all recorded history such that you awake, with a whole coherent history, that never existed before the point you opened your eyes. That weird shop been there for ages. Yes Sarge, but was it there for ages yesterday?

Another example. One reason Lucy, one of the first Hominids existed, is because one of her decendants built COBE that observed the Cosmic Microwave Background, thereby fixing the causal loop of those photons emmited at the Big Bang, so they would interact with the sensor today.

Scientists hate this design because why would the universe exist just for us. Given we evolved through interactions with the universe to be what we are, and they dont like being part of the experiment the universe is running.

Anyone who truely wants to be all powerful, refuses to accept the ever increasing number of experiments that proove its just a Trap. After all, if you know Everything, you have already Experienced it, and Time Doesnt Exist.

The TARDIS doesnt move. Its a pocket dimention. The Doors however, the hyperspacial interface, that can be reformed at pretty much any point in space and time. Unfortunately, this also implies it shouldnt have problems opening in any other dimentional reality, or only need twice the energy, depending on relative dimentional energy levels, to open up two interfaces in two seperate place, abusing Wormhole existances.

The Delorean was an intresting method, using physical momentum coupled with spatiotemporal pinprick to force its way through likely a microwormhole, which has the problem that a given length of hole should need a given amount of energy, unless the efficincy was good enough that the transition was matched to local gravity enviroment, so the wormhole temporal length was actually powered by the planetary motion, like a spacial gravity slingshot?

Currently, the furthest back in time research lab experiments reach, is 10 nanoseconds. It might not sound like much, but know of at least one commercially available microcontroller thats claimed to be able to deterministically task switch in 8 nanoseconds. Which gives the microcontroller the chance to go into superposition for those few nanoseconds, at least until the single photon laser fires again. Now, if that laser bounces off the lunar reflectors, giving a causal loop of over a second, with a person on the select switch, and people observing that person, while streaming on the internet, then we can find out if its possible to lock the whole world in a superposition quantum causal loop. :derpytongue2:

I also support the idea of mankind being a part of the universal equation. I think they're trying to steer away from ideas that put us in a position that makes us seem important because of how egotistical we can get. They're trying to understand things in terms of humans being equal to everything else, of everything being equal at some point when it isn't. The universal books don't balance and it blows their minds and annoys them, like an accountant unable to round things down so they even out.

I'm not quite familiar with all of Einstein's works or how light plays a factor in all of this. It's interesting, but I'm more interested in using it as a story concept. As I said before, the layers of reality are like the layers of problems, and there's an understanding at all different levels.

I honestly think time is a fickle mistress, the cruelest ruler that we all obey. She has written what was written and while there may be somehow a way to change her tale, she has a way of making it come out the way she had wanted. One may be able to make a change, but it would be so minute after all their work they likely wish they had just sat back and had a beer, accepting their fate.
