    IN WHICH HAPPY BOXING DAY!
I meant to post while it was still Christmas (CST) but as usual I’m late. I hope my few remaining readers had a lovely holiday! Here’s a song that’s been in my head lately.

Chuu is one of those who, according to her coworkers, really is just a ball of sunshine. Follow me past the jump.

    IN WHICH I LACK BURRITOS
No, really. I haven’t been by my local burrito place in a long time, partly due to my mother, so I haven’t been able to get good inspiration for another Burritoverse story. Sorry. For now, enjoy my favorite J-Pop group NiziU.

    IN WHICH SCREW DEADLINES
Hey, y’all. Been a few months. Whoever reads this, just wanted to show I’m not dead yet. Do you know NMIXX? You should.

Right. Now, where was I? Oh, I’m sure I’ll figure it out below the jump.

IN WHICH I LIED TO YOU (SORRY)
So… Turns out it's been a full year (!) since my last story. I promised a couple stories in between but failed to finish them. But at least I got my annual Mayor Mare story in. Have some Twice as penance.

More past the jump, if you're willing.

IN WHICH I LIVE… SORT OF
Hi. Been awhile. Not sure who's left to read this. I just now realized I accidentally added an "L" on my last 3 posts. Oops. Well, enjoy Sir Elton.

So, after fixing my screw-up, let's get to the meat of why I'm writing, if you'll pass the jump with me.

IN WHICH I KEPT MY PROMISE AGAIN
Today is a day of minor celebration, as far as I'm concerned. Have some Yes.

I'm sleepy, so not much below the fold, but there is some if you're willing to Read More.

First off, the "r" key on my keyboard has been acting screwy lately, making it difficult to write. Still, I have my honour to uphold.

Second, and this is the big thing. This morning I celebrate both my fifth anniversary of posting stories on this site with, as usual, a Mayor Mare story. AND it just so happens to be the 50th story I've published.

While that pales in comparison to many writers, especially given my low word-counts and erratic (at best) schedule, it's still a couple of milestones I feel worth pointing out.

In addition, since my last blogpost, I've finally hit 450 followers and stayed there -- it kinda hovered for a couple months. I appreciate each and every one of you who has put up with me, whether it be for five years or two weeks.

You might have noticed this year's Mayor Mare story is once again multi-chapter. Sorry about that, but there is an artistic reason for it. As I type this, it's 8:30am CST, so I've got a huge chunk of the day to write more horsewords. And I might. But more likely I'll just sit on the remaining ideas and let them percolate and distill in my brain for a bit. By necessity, the Mayor needed a bit of a breather, some calm before yet another storm.

More importantly, I spent part of the night reading through my most recent Mayor stories, which I haven't done in a long time, and realized I accidentally created a continuity snarl in addition to a massive continuity error.

In line with the show canon, I officially changed Orangeglow's position to "Chancellor", but the older stories still say "Prime Minister". I need to go back and fix this but it'll take some time (since it means adding a few more words to keep the count the same), so please bear with me on that. The continuity snarl I saw when I realized I accidentally sent Mayor Mare and her pals to the Crystal Empire TWICE (maybe three times) instead of just once like I thought. While I fixed the prequel/sequel links on that, the stories (such as they are) are as convoluted as ever.

And unlike Sunset's Recovery Arc, I'm (mostly) not even writing this out of order! Well, except for that one story.

As I haven't had the drive to write much lately and forgot most of what I'd already put out there, some of it was new to me too. I've said before and I'll say again that any time I return to older stories (and don't immediately catch mistakes), I'll marvel that someone like me managed to write those words, almost always with no outside input. It doesn't fit my self-perception as a worthless hack with deteriorating ability. I'm sure I'll do worse this time around but whatever.

I have no goddamn clue where Mayor's stories fit in the overall timeline. At this point I think I've made it to after Twilight got Alicornicated but before the CMC got their cutie-marks.

Although it was brought on by RI2's constant bitching about my treatment of Twilight, I'd always planned for this story to have Twilight not be antagonistic for once, even if it required Discord's mind-rape to do it.

And let's be absolutely honest -- I'm not 100% sure where I'm going with this yet. I'll figure it out. I always do.

Anyway, thank you so much for the last five years. It's been a wild ride, and I'm not getting off just yet.

Peace out.

Five years is awesome, man! I’ve got a similar milestone coming up. Here’s to many more, and much pone. :coolphoto:

You might have to get a new keyboard. That happens to me sometimes too and it's because a key has hit its character limit. The amount of times it can be pressed before it malfunctions.

Congrats on your fifth anniversary!

I feel the same way. Every time I go back to my writing I'm pleasantly surprised at how damn intense it is and how good it is. How much it makes me imagine things like a movie.

Oof that's even worse. My laptop keyboard broke too over time and then I had to replace it. I fucked it up now I gotta get a new laptop entirely. In the meantime I use a USB keyboard.

I went and bought a Bluetooth keyboard. I was hoping for one of those old Mac keyboards that have the two USB ports on the sides, but it looks like they don't make those anymore. Obviously I didn't pay for Apple brand when a Logitech version accomplishes the exact same thing and was at least $60 cheaper. Only downside is the keys don't light up like on my laptop. I may get a Bluetooth mouse at some point even though my trackpad works just fine (usually).

Fun Fact: Whenever I use a physical mouse, I do so left-handed and have since the late 90s. Drove everyone else crazy when they used my computer. It's because I found it efficient to put the mouse on the left so I could have the right side free for handwriting or whatever. My dad is left-handed and uses a right-handed mouse, mostly because that's how he was taught and he's a tech Luddite, but it has the same benefit.

Huh wow that 's pretty interesting! :O
