The reason I write is because I want to read a story written for myself. One day, I want to read one of my own stories and say to myself "That is the best story I have ever read."

    Merry Christmas

So to start off, I wish a heartfelt and sincere Merry Christmas to everybody, or Happy Holidays for those who do not celebrate.

Of course, I know that the feeling of needing to be happy at this time is quite taxing. I see it a lot in my day job doing social work. To those, I do wish that at least your hardships be soothed for a short period of time.

The Story of Pony Fanfiction Panel Notes and... I nearly got into a car crash · 6:22am Jan 12th, 2020

Hey all,
I've been attending Vanhoover Pony Expo, which has been amazing! I've had a great deal of fun hanging with bronies and just chilling. I co-presented "A Song of Alicorns and Rainbooms: How to Write Epics" with Gary Oak and I successfully solo presented my panel: The Story of Pony Fanfiction, with about fifteen-twenty attendees. A small group, but they all seemed to like it and I'm glad I could entertain and educate them. They also were a great audience, listening attentively and being incredibly polite and insightful with their questions. For those interested, here's my script and powerpoint. Unfortunately, because I forgot to print my script. .. I didn't actually follow my script word for word and used it more as a reference as I had my laptop displaying the script and the projector displaying the powerpoint. I'm going to ask Gary later for the notes to our Song of Rainbooms and alicorns panel.

Last thing I want to share is well... holy crap I nearly got into a bad head-on. Was solo driving on my way home from the con after a nice dinner with Goldengriffoness (artist for my new coverart for book 3) and Dardarax (a mutual friend). The car running in the opposing direction swerved into my lane. Luckily there was no car in the lane to my right so I managed to swerve out of the way. If I hadn't done so fast enough... that would have been a partial head-on and we were going at a combined speed of over 120Km/h. I'm still in a bit of shock that that happened. So yeah, I'm praising the lord and thanking my lucky stars I decided to drive home early and not test my endurance.

Wish you all happy new year and safe times.

Oh my god. That could have ended badly. Any physical injuries, or just mental ones?

None fortunately. Just a bit shaken. I did hug my mom very tightly when I got home. But srsly that taught me a lesson about keeping eyes on the road. Thanks for the concern

When I was in school and my dad was driving me (god that feels like forever ago now... I miss those years) down, the road was filled with black ice and we swerved. Scariest fucking feeling when we hit a ditch and we fell a little to a tree. It was cold out, but we were fine. The car was totaled and I just felt numb.

Suffice it to say I was too traumatized to feel good about not being able to go to school. The school I think let us stay home after we called it in. But my god, that was the scariest moment in my life!

Glad you made it through safely.

Jeez, go back to re read changeling queen and see this. Hope ya get better buddy.

Wow that's scary! Be safe out there and glad your panels went well

Hey, the panel looked good! But more importantly, I'm glad you made it home okay!

Any car crash is a bad crash, but especially head on ones! Yikes! :pinkiegasp: I'm glad it wasn't more serious than it was.

Wish I could have been there for your panel. You obviously put a lot of work into it, and even just reading through it was informative. Thanks for sharing the info!

(And I don't I know why, but I would have laughed if I had been online when you took that screencap of my story.)

I had the same experience actually, only my dad, my sister Julianna, my uncle and I were heading down to Virginia. At that point we had a Buick Roadmaster. The car ended up fishtailing and went down a hill before slamming into a tree. I was 8 years old, and to this day, whenever I'm with my dad and he decides to start swerving to tease me, I end up remembering that crash.

And it doesn't help that I was involved in a few other crashes in my lifetime. One major one ended up denting the side door of the Chevy Challenger we currently own. Luckily no one was hurt, but that scared the hell out of me.

Thanks for posting your write up and slides. Really enjoyed reading them.

Jesus that does sound scary. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks!

Thanks! I'm all good, though, tired from the convention :)

Panel went very well and yeah those were the results I got/could conclude. I am thinking about expanding the survey. Thanks for the concern :)

Thanks! I'm glad people seemed to like what I came up with. I'm going to probably incorporate this with a more expanded survey on pony fanfiction.

Also, aHahahahah XD I tots understand why you would have laughed.

Christ, at least nobody was hurt! Thanks for sharing.

You're welcome! I'm going to expand the study a bit more. Also, feel free to check out the authors I screencapped :)

Thanks for sharing! And thanks for including me and my work:scootangel:. These were a good read.

(And wow, I'm glad you're alive!)
