Chapter 14, and 2019 Briefly in Review · 1:49am Jan 3rd, 2020
Everybody's doing it. I've been kinda on the fence about whether I wanted to do this whole "year in review" thing, which is probably why it's coming out on the 2nd instead of the 1st like it properly would. But everyone else is doing it, and there's no better time for it, so why not?
How's my year gone? Pretty well, I'd say. Counting the Ch. 14 draft, I've written over 120k words this year, and that's with the three month hiatus I took between finish EH and starting SH. Compared to writing the 185k words of EH over 2 years, I'd say I'm writing twice as fast as I used to. Is this because I'm taking less breaks, or because I'm writing faster in general? It's hard to say, but I know that I'm not even halfway to my goal. I want to be writing 7k words a week, and that means 365k words a year.
So let's see if we can do that this year, eh? Maybe I'll finish the whole trilogy before 2021.
I feel like I've come a long way as an author. I know when I first went into SH I was a little worried about my ability to tie it all together; it's a far more complicated story than what I had going on in EH, with three different plotlines that all have to be kept synced up while separate so they can eventually come back together at the proper time. Would I be able to handle the complex character development planned for everyone without making things feel too sudden? Would I be able to cross those bridges that I'd left vague during planning, trusting that I'd come up with a solution in time?
Turns out, yeah. So that's nice.
My Patreon is getting places, too! As of early January I now make over $50 a month from my kind patrons, whom you can find listed on my profile page. Thanks a ton to you guys! Every dollar helps!
I'm really looking forwards to the end of the month. PaulAsaran, reviewer extraordinaire, is reading EH for review after literally over a year of waiting. This dude has stuff scheduled out that far ahead, and so when I got recommended to him sometime in 2018, I had until now to wait before he even started reading. The review should be coming out near the end of January, so here's to hoping he likes it!
Chapter 14 has been an easy ride so far. I'm already over 8800 words into it, and I still have another scene and a half to go. Those of you who've noticed the lack of Applejack in the story will be pleased to hear that a lot of unexpected words came out of a scene focused on her. The words just kept coming, and I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. We also have two Ana scenes in stock, and a Twilight. I wouldn't be surprised if this ended up being my first 13k chapter.
I watched The Witcher on Netflix, and Henry Cavill has done a pretty perfect job of it so far. Hype for the next season! I'm also planning on making the money to get myself a VR set this month, so here's to hoping that works out. Half-Life: Alyx looks great, and I kinda already bought some VR games during the Steam Winter Sale. So I'm getting myself a new GPU and then a Valve Index.
There's not much else to say, really, unless you want to join my Discord and chat. Good luck in 2021!
