Happy New Year! January 2020!
Regularly late post-month State of the Author blog post below.
I'm glad December is over. I'm glad 2019 is over. And yet with this said, I cannot escape remembering how my plan of how long it'd take me to finish stories continues to fall through. Here's to hoping 2020 goes better in that regard- or maybe I need to stop worrying about it.
Like November, December was a mixed month for me. I've halfway stalled out at drafting The Night's Stars, in part because I still have to go over a few chapters for edits and or rewrites. I'm trying not to worry too much about this so that I don't paralyze myself into inaction. I'm generally optimistic, though I have my times where I ask myself if I'm making a mistake.
A recap and summary of my writing in December...
I wrote at least 3,000 words in The Night's Stars. I don't remember beyond this, though I'd set the upper bound at around ~10,000. I have not checked the story's length in a while.
I took the time to write a new one-shot of something that I've not done before (also inspired by a picture on Derpibooru that will go unnamed). I've not published it because I've hit a roadblock with it: I look at it and I can't necessarily find anything wrong with it, or anything to improve, but it also feels pointless. Based on this, I'm more or less sitting on my hands unsure of what to do with it. Originally, I had planned to pair it up with a second unrelated one-shot, but I've not been able to get the idea to work in my head, nor have I taken time to try and start writing it- it also feels sort of pointless.
What to expect coming soon...
I'm currently only planning on publishing one chapter in The Night's Stars this month, and this might be the new normal going forward until I get further ahead in drafting the story. I'll see about publishing the one-shot I wrote.
