Plot Bunny Theater: SHAZAM! · 4:45pm Dec 29th, 2019

Little orphan Pipsqueak was wandering alone in the woods when he ran into a bright red trolley in the middle of nowhere. Curious, he boarded it. It took him into an underground cavern, where an old but kindly man sat on a throne over a great rock. He was an ancient wizard-Older even than Starswirl the Bearded. And he had chosen the plucky young colt to wield an incredible power.

By speaking the wizard's name, the colt could transform into the Mightiest Mortal! And defend Equestria!

With the power of the six immortal elders of Equus, whose names formed the wizard's own true name:

S for Solomane, the wisest King of Ancient Equus!
H for Hoofcules, the strongest hero of Ancient Equus!
A for Atlas, the pony Titan who kept Equus turning!
Z for Zeus, the pony Thunder King of Ancient Equus!
A for Achilles, the pony warrior who was fierce and invulnerable in combat!
M for Marecury, the fastest pony of Ancient Equus!

Together, they form SHAZAM! And when the word is spoken, it transforms meek and tiny Pipsqueak into CAPTAIN MARVEL*! A pony with Alicorn-like strength and abilities!

Pipsqueak thus undertakes this great responsibility with the purity of a young colt, doing his best to protect Equestria from threats big and small, and to aid the Elements of Harmony however possible. Some of the challenges the Big Red Cheese may face in Equestria:

-Ancient Lords of Magic and Darkness!
-The former Champion of Shazam, Black Sus, who was corrupted by his powers and became evil!
-Twilight Sparkle furiously attempting to determine just who Captain Marvel really is.
-The notorious mad scientist Doctor Silvania, who wants Marevel's powers for his own!
-And worst of all... Girls being mushy at him when he's in Captain Marvel form. Ew, Cooties!

*Yes, I know the DC character in question has been renamed "Shazam" to avoid copyright infringement but I grew up calling him Captain Marvel, and Captain Marvel is what I will call him forever more. Not these johnnies and janies come lately from Marvel.

If the name is Captain Marevel, does Pipsqueak turn into a Mare? Or is it just a pony pun?

Just a pony pun. Though Pipsqueak has to keep explaining things.

*Yes, I know the DC character in question has been renamed "Shazam" to avoid copyright infringement but I grew up calling him Captain Marvel, and Captain Marvel is what I will call him forever more. Not these johnnies and janies come lately from Marvel.

Also because having him be named Shazam is incredibly stupid because saying that word is what transforms him to and from his superhero form and having a name you can't tell people without losing your powers is... counter-intuitive, to say the least.

Gotta say, it's kind of surreal for me to see two concepts revolving around kid superheroes in as many weeks (the other being SoloBrony's The Hero: Cozy Glow...?) when I've been working with the concept for a while, but it's hardly a trend I disapprove of.

For some reason I'm reminded of Gomer Pyle. Maybe he said "shazam" sometimes and I forgot?

Anyway, Mareval is a funny mildly amusing pun, but it seems like a silly thing for a male to be called. Maybe something like Captain Manevel? I know Marevel has the R to make it sound closer to Marvel but at least it doesn't sound like something that will give poor Pip "issues" when he grows up. :derpytongue2:

Girls getting mushy on him? Hehehe, I can imagine Dashie getting a bit of a crush "because he flies, and he's fast, and he's strong, and he's totally awesome! Uhh, not that I care. If you like that sort of thing, but I don't, I'm too busy being awesome myself." :rainbowdetermined2:
Pinkie: "Look there he goes!" :pinkiegasp:
Dashie: "Where?!" *Looks* :rainbowderp:
Pinkie: *Giggle-snort* :pinkiehappy:
Dashie: "...Not cool."

The drawback, of course, is obvious if the truth is ever known at least to the Mane 6: "He's only 12? HE'S ONLY 12!!! AUGH! I'M A SICKO PERVERT!" *flies off to her shower to scrub* "I caaa-haan't get cleee-heeeen" *sobs*

...Which kind of applies to any decent mare in the setting that would get 'mushy' with Pipzam. So, er, maybe not play that up too much.

Oh, of course I wouldn't play it up too much! Too much is gross.

Pipzam can be a colt in a stallion's body in other ways though.

Like Pinkie Pie's invitation to a party.

Captain Marvel: *Jumping up and down in the bouncy castle happily, despite the fact he can fly* "WHEEEEE!"
Pinkie: "I KNOW! ISN'T THIS GREAT?!"
Captain Marvel: "THE GREATEST!"

One fun idea: the name wouldn't work, but since there are 6 powerful elders hanging around Ponyville now (The Pillars of Equestria) couldn't Pip get his powers from them?

Gomer Pyle was always saying 'Well, Sha-zam!' whenever something weird or even mildly important happened. The old wizard can just be happy that Billy Batson didn't do that or thing would have gotten confusing!

And I love this idea of Pipsqueak being the Equestrian Captain Marvel. Marvel has become one of my favorite superheroes (despite everything DC did to him and his family). I have to wonder who would become his Tawky Tawny though.

I'd also love to see Mister Mind the mind-controlling Venusian worm try pulling his tricks on PInkie Pie, only for...

Captain Mare-Vel: "Okay, Mind! I know you're inside Pinkie Pie's head! Come out of there with your antennae up!"

Spike: "Wait, what?"

Applejack: "Well, this kinda explains a few things, and --"

Mister Mind: [slithering out of Pinkie's ear] "I give up! I give up! Take me to a prison hospital! All I saw in there was parties, parties, parties and a endless array of cakes and sweets! Get me some insulin, stat!" [Faints.]

Spike: "Wow, ponies really DO have the most sugary thoughts imaginable."

Pinkie Pie: "Tee-hee! I knew I felt something tickling my forebrain!"

Someone already did this with Scootaloo

Ah. It's been decades since I saw Gomer Pyle USMC or early episodes of the Andy Griffith Show so I guess I forgot, thanks.

No need to apologize. I wish I could remember things a trifle more important than verbal tics of a character from a near-forgotten TV show.
