AND NEVER FACE THE MUSIC WHEN IT'S DIRE · 8:55pm Dec 23rd, 2019
Note: This is Part Two in a series. You can read Part One here.
To improve readability, some messages aren't in strict chronological order, as you might be able to tell from the timestamp on the screencaps. Since at some point three different conversations were happening in three different chats, you'll see the color of my name change very now and then.
Any message that doesn't have a clear direct name and avatar attached to it is mine, and quoted that way quite simply because taking screenshots from Discord it's difficult and I really could not be fucked.
PREVIOUSLY, ON ANGEL CATBIRD:
AND NOW:
Between this and the Cats movie, I feel like I've been one-two punched into being as far away from furry as any man can be. It's incredible. I don't know whether to thank you, or curse your name and descendants unto the tenth generation.
My favorite thing about this blog is that when Margaret Atwood inevitably wins the Nobel Prize, every single follower of mine will have a flashback to these blogs. We'll all be thinking about this every time we hear her name.
That's my gift from me to you.

Some will say it's a catastrophe but I welcome this furtunate reality.
God is dead and the furries killed him, catnipped in the bud.

For some odd reason, this makes our civilization's eventual collapse not as frightening as it once was to me.
Atwood confirmed for potential amazing ponyfic author.
But yeah, this is bizarre. I'm going to have to make sure my mother, a massive Atwood fan, never learns about this.
I also need to make sure my sister, a massive Atwood fan, finds out about at this as soon as possible. They don't have much else in common.
Edit: My sister's reaction was raucous laughter, giddy clapping, and a cry of "Merry Christmas, one and all."
I'm scared.

Man, that bird suit line takes on a whole new meaning now. My only regret is that, when I had to do an oral presentation on Siren Song in high school, this comic hadn't been written yet. Otherwise my analysis of the poem would have been very different and I probably would have failed grade 11 English.
It’s distantly possible that, despite everything else, this graphic novel is positive proof that we actually do live in the best timeline after all.
why
Well, at least we... learned... something...?
I died at Anonymouse
Thank you for this wonderful tale during the holidays.

She saw into the future what horror she would unleash. That was about her
Oh god. Is that it?

I really would like to see the Venn diagram for what you need to be in order to unironically enjoy this.
Also, this frame is really freaking me out: camo.fimfiction.net/d0rml04mhLoXQGzkkDr2qJ6i3xWZ_RTteMDXN2GrDQs?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.gyazo.com%2F68947a759c4a12d0d3c17231769c9f2f.png
It looks like they painted eyes on an emaciated person's chest.
I showed my husband these posts and he said he'd stay married to me in spite of that.

That's true love.
Ah yes, the old "kill God with catgirls" trick. Gotta love it.

Neferkitti had me gasping for air.
...
Welp. That was... something. :D
actual quote, from this interview
Well hey, congratulations to her for being open to new things.
Now if she can just get past the horny pre-teen period of writing and-
Hang on, did she draw this as well, or was some pitiable artist commissioned for this?

A-ha! Here's what I was reminded of.

I'm sure there's another mouth-that-extends-down/through-the-chest character I'm thinking of, but I just can't recall enough details.
I mentioned this in the chat when you were showing this on the Fimfic discord but like, I've actually seen this side of Atwood before. If you read The Handmaid's Tale, it's a good book and all, but it also suffers from this bizarrely pointless epilogue that adds nothing to the story and apparently only exists as an avenue to let her make shitty jokes.
This feels like Atwood being in that "mode", but writing a whole goddamn comic book. I also suspect she might've somehow influenced the layout of the comic in places, since it's real darn easy to even keep track of what's going on in places, like how Angel Catbird gets his powers from his super serum mixing with a cat and a dead owl, but the reader never even sees the owl die. It's just there one panel and dead next to him the next.
I'm starting to suspect Atwood may just have some really, really good editors and filter out all her bad ideas

Best as I can tell, she designed the characters and provided the initial sketches, and the artist just did the best he could with what he was given.
It shows.
All I get from this is that it is entirely feasible for me to win a Pulitzer.
