Rainbow Dash sets about the most important of her teaching duties; decorating a copse of truculent trees for Hearth's Warming. Just as well she's got a new teaching assistant, Sweetie Belle, to delegate to.

Be still, sad heart! and cease repining; Behind the clouds is the sun still shining.

You probably know how this sort of thing goes. There you are, mowing your grass on a day that can't decide whether to shine or drizzle on you, a few years and counting into your non-writing streak. Whatever thoughts you're having are at the expense of your lawnmower picking a fight with every passing tuffet and losing.

    Stellarum voces

A jolly update for folk who like either fanfic readings or The Motion of the Stars, and a downright rapturous one for folk who like both. My name is R has brought their vocal talent to bear on the story, complete with images and background music to help

    On Brains

A nice breezy dialogue to ease in with:

CARABAS’ COMMON SENSE: So, a hypothetical conservation for you.
CARABAS: Two lines in and we’ve already got fictional discourse nested in the initial fictional discourse. Gosh, I must just love to live dangerously.

My worldbuilding ability peaked at wandering pines, you know it's true · 10:39pm Dec 22nd, 2019

Merry (not yet) Christmas! Have a Jinglemas fic, Saplings, to celebrate it much too early. Rainbow Dash and Sweetie Belle wrangling ambulatory trees into festive shape's just what the (almost) holiday calls for.

If you think it's a bit early for Jinglemas fics to start going up by themselves, you'd be right, though it's for reasons outwith the control of myself or the Jinglemas organisers. If you've not already seen their blog post here, and you've got a Jinglemas bun in the oven yourself, best to get it posted on the site and PMed their way as soon as possible. If you're not participating in Jinglemas and have even less of of a clue what the New Stories column is doing than usual, then it might eventually calm down and relatively-normal service may resume. No promises, though.

Not until we get a lore entry on their government, lands, notable figures, and forms of magic it hasn't!

Some sagas of a people, I can't even begin to attempt to do justice to.

Eh, it's the first night of Hannukah. Close enough.

My vote from 2016 for the next world-building blog to be about magic still stands, you jolly holiday con artist.

Close enough indeed.

If I had anything resembling a to-do-list drafted by a well-organised and capable mind, I swear it would be on there.

I see you have chosen to force my hand once again.

The ritual is performed. That tightening you feel in your chest indicates the countdown has begun. You have six of your human weeks.

5173471
Oh god. Human hands weren't meant to try and type a magic blogpost and the next Palaver sequel in parallel. What else have you done.

Nothing that I can immediately recall. So if you're feeling any other effects, I'll tell you right now, it's too late to undo it if I can't even remember what it was. My best advice is to try to meet the resolve condition within the deadline, and to stop giving me reasons to pile on new curses. Beyond that, I can't help you.
