Chapter 13, Mandalorian, and Whitehorn's Manifesto · 6:02am Dec 19th, 2019
Greetings, little flowers! Once again I come to you with a message of "wow, hey, it's been a while, huh?" I'm not really sure what happened with this chapter, but it was totally kicking my ass. I knew what I wanted to happen, but it wasn't quite coming out straight, and all three of the involved scenes (featuring Twilight, Rarity, and Rainbow) had to be rewritten after initial reviews. Who knows—maybe I'll have to do it again! I sure as hay hope not, though.
So it's been sent off to the reviewers, sitting pretty at 11,561 words, and I'm looking forwards both to getting it to you and to writing the next chapter. It should be much heavier on the action than this one, and you know I do a lot better at action than all that other stuff.
In other news, I've been watching The Mandalorian lately. I mean, who hasn't? That show's dope. Just goes to show all the potential Star Wars has when it's left in the right hands, cause it seems like every time Mando does something, it does it better than every Star Wars movie before it. You guys seen episode seven? Well I'm not gonna put down any spoilers, but what I can say is that I'll be right there once the final episode comes out ready to see how it all comes together.
And lastly, who among my readers are fans of politics? I have a couple, and I tap them often when writing Rarity, and one has actually been working kinda on the side on a full draft of Whitehorn's manifesto. It's pretty cool! So if you're interested in checking that out and perhaps having some say in how it comes along before I finally stick it into the story, hop into the Discord. Might as well plug my Patreon while I'm at. You guys are being super supportive, and it's amazing!
I've actually been toying with the idea of writing lore supplements for Sunken Horizons based off of Whitehorn's writing. He is a journalist, after all, and the old Twilight's Notes On entries doesn't really fit into the story of this second act of the trilogy. I've just been having trouble coming up with the time to do it. Getting updates out regularly is hard enough.
That's all I've got for now! I can't make any promises, but you know I'll be whipping my editors to have the draft ready for a Friday release. Also of note on Friday: the Empty Horizons audiobook will be covering the bulk of the Everfree dive and the fall of Fellis Island. Hype!
Toodles!
As someone what was a huge Star Wars nerd prior to the Disney takeover, I'll second The Mandalorian as a very entertaining and 'done right' show.
