Note: to improve readability, some messages aren't in strict chronological order, as you might be able to tell from the timestamp on the screencaps. Since at some point three different conversations were happening in three different chats, you'll see the color of my name change very now and then.
Any message that doesn't have a clear direct name and avatar attached to it is mine, and quoted that way quite simply because taking screenshots from Discord it's difficult and I really could not be fucked.

Please don't comment to tell me what ovoposition actually is.
Rat pussy
5169973
Actually it's spelled "oviposition" : )
This whole conversation reminds me of most of my Literature classes.
I just know that someday, years from, I'll be:
Pulitzer-Prize-winning, New-York-Times-Best-Selling author, Shakespearicles™.
And someone is going to go digging around on the internet
and do a thread like this about me:
"Oh yeah, and he used to write a lot of My Little Pony fanfiction back in the day."
Anyone can shitpost.
Anyone can "ha ha just kidding... unless?" sincerely-ironically shitpost.
Not just anyone can take that shitpost and turn it into something you can purchase at a bookstore.
That takes a future Nobel Prize winner.
I need to check the discord now......
5169972
Which, uh. Which tab is this under?
5169979
Inspiring
I can't believe you think this is noteworthy. You have barely scratched the surface of WTF-ery mankind has produced.
Maybe it's a DIFFERENT Margaret Atwood? Like in Office Space where the one dude's named Michael Bolton?
There's nothing you can say that will convince me that Margaret "if he got the fur i'il give him the purr" Atwood is not a regular at f-list.
5169989
She has it listed on her official website's bibliography.
5169989
I checked. It's the first thing I checked. It's that Margaret Atwood, there's no irony in this, she wrote a massive intro to the comic explaining how dear to her heart it is and how she has always loved cats and comics since she was a little kid.
This is a passion project of hers, and a culmination of part of her career.
This is completely insane and/or amazing. I wonder what some other major writers have hiding in their drafts... *"Sweet Ermengarde" stares back*
Thank you Aragon, you are truly the gift that keeps on giving! Now I know what to get my brother for Christmas even!
5169983
Most of this is in a private server. Parts happened in writing-chat, in the official Fimfic discord.
5170003
ah. ok. bit disappointed.
What...
what.
Did I... What did I just read?
...
It's a strange world sometimes, you know? :D
derpicdn.net/img/2018/6/3/1748896/large.png
I'm not sure how much more of this madness I can take!
I’m going to punch you in the mesentery
Dear lord.
Talk about a cliffhanger.
So normally I have trouble making it through long blog posts like this with a bunch of images.
Was not a problem this time. I gotta assume this was Atwood realizing she can do whatever she wants, ala Patrick Stewart doing the poop emoji in The Emoji Movie and having a blast with it.
I didn't know this was what I needed to find on a Sunday evening on Fimfic, but here we are. Thank you for making my world a bit more whatever the fuck it is now.
5169994
WELP.
So I guess I got it backward. You can only write the weirdo fetish furry stuff after you get the critical acclaim. Go figure.
Though ... there's a lotta fuckin' in The Handmaiden's Tale, isn't there?
And also, as a sidenote: The whole 'magic horniness' is basically the equivalent of the 'destined farmboy chosen one' thing, in that it's a cop-out of a writing shortcut. Only with more boners, I guess.
5169972
Shit... There goes half my post... at least oviposition vis a vis real animals like wasps, I have no idea how it relates to furries.
Anyway, I tried to read this comic once a while back (the library had a copy) and bounced right off it, you're a braver man than I.
I choose to interpret this as inspirational, in the sense that there’s now precedent for me going professional, writing a critically lauded magnus opus, and then coming right back to furry shit, except now that I’m famous it’s automatically validated by critics.
God bless you, Margaret. Live your dreams.
Sometimes I think that the Discord server I'm mainly a part of is one of the most crazy ones there is. And then someone posts shit like this and I'm like "OK, no, we're tame by compassion." Never change, Aragon, never change.
5170111
And if E. L. James can be a New York Times best-selling author, anyone can!
It's inspiring, really. More high-profile famous authors need to fly their freak flags high, if for no other reason than to give others the courage to do so.
AHAHAHA OMG YES
Margaret CAT Wood am I right
Margaret CAT WOOD
The secret was inside her all along!
Seriously, I am the last person to mock this strange destiny of hers, so the only thing I wonder is this: do her characters want coherent things (and cat wood or horse pussy are just as good things to want as anything else, in a postmodern sort of way), does the story build to new realizations interestingly, and ideally conclude (climax?) with a thematically relevant ending that's a reasonable payoff after a bunch of narrative momentum that hooks the reader properly.
Hell, if I can play those games with horse pussy (or futa) there's no reason Margaret Atwood couldn't be doing it with a gratituous furry comic. What good is a NON-gratituous furry comic? But I can't tell from out-of-context panels, and for that matter I don't know if Handmaid's Tale is any good on that level, for all that it Makes Important Points about feminism and the lack thereof.
This is interesting anyhow: thanks, Aragon
5170019
I had to look that up. For those playing at home, it's a real body part.
5170188
In order: no, no, and no. This comic is shit in every conceivable way. I just posted the funny panels.
The characters make no sense, nobody has any voice or personality, story elements come and go with no reason, pacing is terrible, nobody has any character arc, there are no themes, and it doesn't end.
It is genuinely the worst thing I've heard in a while.
I had precisely two blog posts on this hellsite bookmarked. One of them is Skywriter's mediation on a sequel to Princess Celestia Hates Tea. The other is Bad Horses's essay about effective mystery writing.
Now I have three.
why you DO this, aragon
This reads like
Someone who discovered they were a furry independently of even being aware of what furries are
...it's beautiful in the same way that a lethal fire is.
No. No damn it, I just read Fall of Equestria, I can't spare the energy on this! WHY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?
Indie Feminist what now? What the fuck does that even mean? I know what those two words mean individually, but together they mean nothing. And why is someone dedicating A WHOLE LIBRARY to this branch of literacy?
Caterwaul... Well Shakes, you got beat out for the worst pun award. Now Husbantree gets Miss Congeniality.
5170172
Are you saying that in the Obama way or the Trump way?
5173749
Ah. Bookstore, I meant bookstore. "Library" sounds like the Spanish word for "bookstore" (librería) so I sometimes mix them up. It was a local, indie bookstore -- ran by the two people who own it, organized and stocked by them and shit -- and it specialized in feminist literature and treaties and so on. It was actually really damn cool, I found books in there I had never seen anywhere else.
I also found the Atwood comic, which sadly overshadowed anything else I found there, but I intend to return soon enough and get some actual stuff.
5173755
Ah, my bad.
I'm a bit gunshy to go into that sort of thing, but yeah, I agree, you find a lot of cool stuff in privately owned things. I've found best sellers and rare books being sold for a quarter and stuff I've never even heard of, like, Great God Pan levels of good that blow Stephen King and that nebbish Lovecraft out of the water in terms of skill.
But this... Okay, comics as a medium have really taken a bad turn. Save us Gaiman for Morpheus's sake
I think this though can best be summarized here.https://www.fimfiction.net/blog/882795/fall-of-equestria-review
5169993
AND Angel Catbird 2 and 3! And War Bears!
I foresee more posts.
5182933
Perhaps.
5173749
I honestly have no idea what you mean.
The joke was that if 50 Shades can be a NYT best seller, then the bar is set pretty low. There was no other implication, political or otherwise.
5183073
50 Shades wasn't a fluke. It became a best-seller the same way nearly all best-sellers are made today: it was chosen to be a best-seller before it was published. But it was chosen mistakenly, because publishers didn't understand what "page hits" meant. See Fifty shades of marketing and Fifty Shades of Landfill.
5183107
Thank you very much for those insights!
