So I got to see the eclipse yesterday...

My family went on an all-day pilgrimage through the state to get to a good spot to watch it. Really cool to see happen. I'm gonna be in my 40's when it happens again. Maybe I'll have some actually published original stories out by then xD

My Version of "Jurassic Park III" · 1:05am Dec 12th, 2019

I was hit with a sudden stroke of inspiration tonight, and I had to write it down. This is my personal version of how I would have written Jurassic Park III.

The film would begin in a manner not unlike Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, except with a BioSyn expedition to Isla Sorna in 1998; specifically, to Site B’s genetic lab compound (the one seen in the actual JP3), where BioSyn agents, led by Lewis Dodgson, raid InGen’s abandoned DNA banks and amber stores, even getting access to the DNA of creatures that InGen had not yet cloned for the Jurassic Park project. As they’re leaving with their haul, however, the team is ambushed by a Tyrannosaurus Rex, which, naturally, kills a couple people before the rest are able to flee the island.

The film would then flash forward to about three years later, in 2001. In the years since the fall of Jurassic Park, and then of InGen following the 1997 San Diego incident, Dr. Henry Wu has been trying to pick up the pieces of his life and his scientific career, caught between guilt over what his efforts have wrought upon the world, and curiosity over where things will go from there. One day, an CIA agent arrives at his home with disturbing news; a dinosaur carcass has been found in the Nevada desert. The CIA believes that BioSyn is responsible, and believes that the company is secretely creating a new wave of cloned dinosaurs for it’s own dark ends. They plan to inflitrate BioSyn’s operations to see what they are doing, and ask Dr. Wu to accompany them as a scientific consultant, as he was instrumental in InGen’s first forays into de-extinction. Wu agrees.

The team, consisting of CIA agents, Dr. Wu, and a few other scientists, successfully locate the source of BioSyn’s operation: a massive, Area 51/Black Mesa-esque research facility in the Nevada desert, overseen by Dodgson and by BioSyn CEO Jeff Rossiter (a character from Michael Crichton’s The Lost World novel). Over the past three years, the company has bred several new dinosaurs, including Ankylosaurus, Corythosaurus, chameleon-skinned Carnotaurus, & even Pteranodons in a canyon-based aviary. But the most dangerous of these new creatures is a gigantic, psychopathic Spinosaurus, and a new breed of Velociraptor, stated to be twice as intelligent as InGen’s variants from the first two movies, led by a breeding pair designated Queen (the alpha female from the movie) and Knight (her mate and second-in-command). The Raptors have developed a fierce grudge against BioSyn, and Dodgson in particular; BioSyn did not breed their dinosaurs all-female like InGen did, and as such, they breed normally. But whenever they do, BioSyn takes the eggs or new-born chicks and kill them, recycling their DNA for further usage elsewhere. Naturally, the Raptors don’t take to kindly to this inhumane massacre of their young.

With BioSyn’s operation now uncovered, the team attempts to sneak their way back out. Unfortunately, the heroes are soon discovered by BioSyn security, and in their frantic efforts to escape, the main power grid is compromised, allowing the dinosaurs to escape their holding cells and into the wider facility. Pandemonium ensues as Dr. Wu and the others try to navigate their way out of this nightmare and call for reinforcements, all the while avoiding BioSyn agents and the escaped dinosaurs, especially the Spinosaurus. The Raptors take advantage of the situation by executing any BioSyn personnel they come across.

Eventually, the heroes manage to navigate their way out of the base, but not without their own losses to the Spinosaur, Carnotaurs, and Pteranodons (in which, like in the movie, the Pteranodons escape from the confines of the aviary). The dinosaurs suffer heavy hits as well, with many dying in the chaos, including Knight. The team is able to send out a call for help, and military forces soon arrive at the facility, killing the Spinosaur and arresting Rossiter and all the surviving BioSyn employees. Infuriated by his failures, Dodgson attempts to murder Wu and the others, but they are saved when the surviving Raptors appear. Queen, infuriated by both the loss of her mate and the deaths of countless of her offspring, exacts her revenge on Dodgson by first breaking both of his legs, and then stomping her foot down onto his chest, driving her sickle claw through his heart. With no quarrel against Dr. Wu or the rest of the surviving protagonists, the Raptors take their leave, fleeing into the Nevada wilderness before the troops come to pick up the survivors.

In the aftermath of the incident, BioSyn is shut down for good and Rossiter is given a life-sentence. The surviving dinosaurs that they bred are taken to government medical facilities to be nursed back to health, and then transported to Isla Sorna to live out the rest of their lives in relative peace. The United Nations decides to establish a permanent base of operations on the island to ensure a similar incident does not occur again, and they offer Wu a position on the science team, which Wu readily accepts.

But the ending is still bittersweet. BioSyn has been stopped, but there are still a few dinosaurs roaming around in the wild, in particular the Velociraptors and the Pteranodons. The film would close on the Raptor pack having made a life for themselves in the mountains of Utah, with Queen brooding over a new clutch of eggs, and the flock of Pteranodons flying into the sunset in the distance.

What do you think? For those of you who have seen the original, do you think this is better or worse than the movie we got? Let me know in the comments below, and have a great rest of the day.

Can the new raptors look like the Indoraptor? Because he was the prettiest character in that movie.
Anyway, OMG I love! Yes! We need writers like you over there in Hollywood.

Hmm. Remake a multi-million dollar film? I'm skeptical that you could, yet intrigued that you may. Will it at least keep the velociraptor saying "Alan?"

Oh, I'm not planning on actually remaking it. This is just the story I would have went with if I was writing the movie.

Now, a fan-novel over on Fanfiction.net, on the other hand...

Will it at least keep the velociraptor saying "Alan?"

Nah. Alan Grant wouldn't be in this version. I thought about it at first, but then I decided to go the unexpected route and have Dr. Wu be the protagonist, as opposed to the mad-scientist-for-hire he is in the Jurassic World movies.

I dunno, the JP3 raptors are just as pretty, IMO.

Aww, thanks. :)

Pls keep Indoraptor design. My baby didnt deserve to become a kebob!

No prob!

5167966
Eh, I think I'll stick with the JP3 raptor design. The Indoraptor is a straight up hybrid, while the raptors in this story are simply souped-up versions of the ones from JP and TLW, so I think the JP3 design would suit them.

But if you don't want to see your baby get turned into a kebob, well...we always have this little thing (which I seriously need to get back to work on someday...).

5167967
Oh yeah, I seriously need to read that.

‘‘Tis a nice ‘what if’ story. Would love to actually read/watch something like this

I like this rewrite, along with the one about Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Have you considered posting them on fanfiction.net or DeviantArt?

5168251
I'm actually working on a full-on rewrite of KOTM over on Fanfiction.net. You can find the beginnings of it here.

5168253
When will you post the next chapter?

5168286
Soon. My second semester is just wrapping up, so I'll have a lot more time over the break to finish it.

5168294
Okay, and what about the Jurassic Park 3 rewrite? Will you post it on fanfiction.net as well?

5168334
I don't know, but probably not. This was just an idea I had the other night. The KOTM rewrite is a full-on project I've been meaning to do for a while now.

Maybe I'll try it after I finish the KOTM rewrite (whenever decade that may happen in, haha).

5168337
Hey there, just wanted to see how you were doing. Has your second semester ended?

5339658
Yup. Finishing up the next chapter of my KOTM rewrite. I'm hoping to get it done before my new classes start next Monday.

5339659
Glad to hear about that! Anything else occurring besides that? How are you holding up to the pandemic?

5339668
Good to hear. I have to admit, you've made up some pretty good rewrites about KOTM and JP3. Kudos for your creativity!

5339671
Well, the KOTM rewrite's changed a little bit. Emma is no longer killed by Jonah, but she is still noticeably less sympathetic in my version.

5339701
Intriguing. I can't wait to see what happens next in your KOTM rewrite! I'm also wondering since you've rewritten JP3, would the Jurassic World trilogy still exist or not?
