Not back to KSP yet, but I did do some space stuff.

I haven't touched KSP since my early experience with KSP2 was a combination of glitchy game and impossible-to-read UI. I've been thinking about it here and there, but I've had other things to do.

But that doesn't mean I'm not doing space stuff, and yesterday I finally edited and posted a video of such.

    My muse is nagging me.

I've done very little writing the past five months, partly due to being busy, but mostly due to recurring headaches when it's writing time.

I have a couple weeks off, and I'm going to try to make time to get back on my projects (the Octavia story and novelizing Peter is the Wolf). But my mind... well... it's trying to jump ahead, or possibly back.

    Life imitates art...

So, a privately built and operated space probe became the first US lander to soft-land on the Moon last week- Odysseus.

    Extreme Nitpicky Trivia Help Wanted

I've finally begun work on that story I promised.

I need a bit of info for a minor touch, though:

Does anybody know if, through the entirety of MLP:FiM, any month in the Julian/Gregorian calendar has been named by any character in any episode whatever?

I'm prepared to make up month names, but if they use the same ones we do I won't bother.

Upcoming projects... · 5:55am Dec 11th, 2019

Those Patreon supporters who have the link to my livewriting Google doc might already know I've been working on a new project. As of tonight's session, I'm now 8,000 words into it, or about a chapter and a quarter- the introduction.

The idea is to drop certain characters from a certain other series into the show and have, more or less, one chapter for every episode of MLP:FiM. If I can get the intro chapter to have a hook (the first draft is really heavy on exposition and explainy-to-the-newcomers stuff so far), my intent is to have this be the backbone of my "1500 words per day for 2020" challenge, which will be spread across multiple projects (including Changeling Space Program and Haycartes' Pluperfect Method, which will get priority of posting if and when a chapter gets completed).

The main difference with this over so many 'retell the series with characters who fix everything' fics is this: for most of the episodes involved, the newcomer characters will have their own things going on. So far as the Mane 6 are concerned, the newcomers are background. There will be a little interaction (especially with events such as, for example, Discord's escape, which they really can't avoid being caught up in), but for the most part the characters will have their own adventures and slice-of-life moments.

And- with possibly a couple of exceptions- I do not intend this to become fixfic. The episodes are only there to give me a structure, within which I can build new stories and, if it works out, new story arcs for the intruders.

Those who have seen the posts on Patreon, I'd appreciate it if you not spoil who the characters are. For one thing, I might drop this: I've dropped projects before where the story just failed to write beyond exposition. (For example, I toyed with having "Grogar" add three more villains from other worlds to the Family of Doom, all three brought from points in their life- or afterlife- at which they would be less than enthusiastic about further villainy. But, aside from a couple of cute moments, that story just wouldn't write, so I dropped it.)

Also, for those of you following my KSP livestreams, today I cheated a bit and did some background playing to do some science farming and test out the new technology I bought from last night's mission (viewable at http://twitch.tv/redneckgaijin ). I'll explain more about what I did, but suffice to say, the test flying I did today was a good thing, because I'm going to have to tweak the rocket some more before Thursday (7 PM Central)'s livestream. Its current performance is... borderline.

Also: ("Hello, science gadget I hardly ever use in game! You'll be really useful if I continue this, so let's test you... JESUS CHRIST HOW MUCH ELECTRICITY DO YOU DAMN WELL NEED?") Yeah, educational stuff.
