Now then. In my last (serious) blog, I talked in detail about the whole Celestia/Luna/Nightmare Moon thing. It reminded me of a fic I swear I read a long time ago, and I'm hoping maybe one of you glorious people can point me towards it.
The story was simple to my recollection. It was Celestia standing alone, at night, talking with somepony. It starts normally, but she gets progressively more and more angry as time goes on. By the end, she's screaming, frothing at the mouth, about how angry she is with whomever she's talking to. However, it soon devolves into tears and regret, with her talking about how badly she failed, how it was all her fault. And at the very end, we get the "twist," I guess you could call it: it's Nightmare Night, and she's talking to Luna, trapped on the moon. I seem to remember the end was Celestia calming down, and saying something to the effect of, "See you next year."
Now, I will swear up and down that I read this a while back, but for the life of me, I can't remember the story. I thought I recalled it being a story by RainbowBob, remember him? But a search of his stories turned up nothing. Thinking on it more... it may have just been a story idea of mine that I had ages ago, but never wrote, and now have forgotten the details.
So, does this concept ring any bells? Or am I just having a "Mandela Effect" moment with a proto-story idea from long ago?

This story does sound familiar, but I'm not sure at all who could have written it. I tried searching through my bookshelves, but no luck.

Just FYI, I now remember that it was a story idea of mine. I now recall that it was going to be very short, maybe just over the minimum for a story on this site. It was going to be nothing but dialogue. No narration or actions, just dialogue. The point of the story was it would be written in a way that the entire time, you think it's Luna, trapped on the moon, raging at Celestia on Earth, but in reality, it's Celestia, trapped on Earth raging at Luna on the moon.
I don;t know, I just thought it was a nifty idea, and a way to explore how Celestia would have felt about the whole thing.

Ah. Ok then. That plot does sound like a dead ringer for the kind of plot-twist reveal type story from the early 2011-2012 MLP era.
5167544 It's interesting how the various stories of the MLP fandom form 'strata' as time and the episodes rolled out. From Scootabuse to Twilestia, to Woona to Scootachicken and such. The numbers have to be in the database somewhere, and some Masters degree student in psychology may eventually mine it for a paper titled on the order of "Trends in fan-driven animation stories and how they relate to historical events of the 2010-2019 timeframe"
