Shining Armor and Cadence have come to Ponyville to celebrate a human tradition: Thanksgiving. They arrive at Twilight's castle, with the food and music in full swing. Shepherd and Twilight come out to greet them, along with Chrysalis and Fluttershy.
Twilight: "BBBFF! Cadence" *She gallops up and hugs them both* "I'm so glad you could make it!"
Shining: "Well, any chance to see my darling little sister, her friends... And the monkey." *Cadence elbows him* "I mean Shepherd."
Shepherd: "Wonderful to see you, Cadence! And you too, Shiny."
Shining: *Grit teeth* "Yes. You too... Can we have a brief chat in private, Monk-Shepherd?"
Shepherd: "Sure thing." *They head off into an adjacent room. Shining takes a deep breath*
Shining: "Listen. You hurt my little sister in any way and you'll pay. Dearly. Death is not nearly creative enough a punishment, I promise you."
Shepherd: "Seriously? You're doing this NOW?
Shining: "I just want to make it abundantly clear-"
Shepherd: "Look, I got the message. Frankly, your sister is a hell of a lot scarier than you could ever be."
Shining: "Is that so?"
Shepherd: "Yes. You'd be a lot more intimidating if you hadn't jobbed endlessly whenever we met, Prince Twinkle."
Shining: "Show me some respect! I was Captain of the Royal Guard, you know!"
Shepherd: "Oh yeah. How could I have forgotten the incredible security at the wedding? Great job, by the way."
Shining: "HEY!"
Shining and Shepherd begin to argue, as the mares just watch from the open doorway. Twilight sighs.
Twilight: "Must they always do this?"
Cadence: *tight smile* "Look like."
Shepherd: "Oh yeah?! Well at least Chrysalis considered ME an actual threat! You were nothing but an overgrown TWINKIE to her!"
Shining: "Better a Twinkie than a hedonistic, poop throwing monkey!"
Cadence: *Questioningly to Chrysalis* "Twinkie?"
Chrysalis: *wince* "I hate to admit it, but most of his love did go straight to my plot..."
Fluttershy: "Um... Are we going to stop this at any point?"
Cadence: *Blushes* "Well... As it turns out, after Shining has an argument with Shepherd, he feels he has to prove himself. To me. Over... And over... *Silly grin* And overrrrr... Againnnn..."
Twilight: "EW!"
Chrysalis: "Oh really?"
Fluttershy: "Hmmm... I wonder if it works on him, too?"
Dash: "Can we get some mud in here for them to wrestle in?"
Twilight: *Blushing hard* "DASH!"
Dash: "What?!"
There isn't nearly enough art or fics about Shining being the overprotective big brother.
Cadence's need to get laid will one day kill Shining... but not today.
