Cadance of Cloudsdale (so far) now in Spanish!

Thanks to the generous SPANIARD KIWI, the text of Cadance of Cloudsdale so far is now in Spanish! Mr. Kiwi has done a tremendous amount of work translating many of my stories into Spanish, but this goes above and beyond. If you're curious, you may visit the project so far here at this

    Happy Cadance Day 2024!

Things feel a bit subdued today, due to the coincidence of Valentine's Day and Ash Wednesday through a quirk of the liturgical calendar. It is somewhat difficult to juxtapose the splash of corporate-encouraged love with the festival that literally exists to remind us of our mortality. The pink of Valentine's washes against the purple of Lent. So I'm in a pensive mood, more so than usual on this

    Ciderfest is a wrap!

Just got home from PVCF and it was an amazing con experience! The minific-based ARG that circulated around the con the whole weekend was high-concept, and I was worried about engagement, but everyone seemed to really get into searching out the hard-to-find stories concealed around the convention hall (in places as obscure as "the desktop wallpaper on one of the monitors in the video game room,

I confuse YouTube. · 9:47pm Nov 24th, 2019

My YouTube ad feed: L.O.L. Surprise! Fizz Maker Playset! Check it out!

Also my YouTube ad feed: As you approach the end of your life, we understand that you're naturally concerned about how to best manage your estate...

Do you have ad targetting on or off? Even if it's on it doesn't seem to help so much haha.

Hey, it's never too early to start looking for a good no-load index mutual fund for retirement money to grow in. Vangard is a good place to start, although my work 401k has better rates so I'm spoiled.

Seriously, kids. Want to be a millionaire? Start *young* live cheap don't buy stupid stuff, save every pay period.

Not so much ads in my case (thanks to Significant Other setting up a Pi-Hole on our internet), but Youtube's "Recommended" algorithm tends to throw a wobbly when I sign in:

Me: MLP Fan Music Videos :rainbowkiss:
Also Me: Buckethead, Trivium, Killing Joke music videos :rainbowdetermined2:
YouTube: yOu ShOuLd WaTcH mOre CNC milling and ASMR :facehoof:

Good grief, Skywriter — install an ad blocker in your browser!

Bro do you even adblock?

Live your life so as to confound the algorithm.

My toddler only gets to use Youtube under my supervision, which at the moment means, on my lap and on my computer. We do actually have some overlap in tastes (we both like pony music videos and metal music!) but wow is my recommended feed wild with both of us using the same account.

I prefer not to block them so that the internet doesn't cost more than the zero it costs now haha. Am I the only one who feels that way?

I have this probably misguided impression that it assists content creators that I enjoy in some way to keep them turned on.

Fair. But in my experience, risking your entire computer is not worth it.

Close to 100% of my YouTube activity is on an iPhone or an iOS tablet. 🙂 It's about as gated-community as you can get. I'm not saying there's no risk, but it seems low to me.

I blame the 2015 crash that nearly lost me my entire life's savings of data on viruses contained in ads. Granted, they were likely from disreputable sites, but until the day that ads can be verified as always 100% safe, I will block them.

Except then I'll still block Youtube ads, because they're just the worst. :B

The YouTube algorithm was not prepared for bronies.

Live your life so as to confound the algorithm.

We did not invent the algorithm. The algorithm consistently finds Jesus. The algorithm killed Jeeves. The algorithm is banned in China. The algorithm is from Jersey. The algorithm constantly finds Jesus. This is not the algorithm. This is close.
