A Man Undercover

My Little Pony: Pony Life Trailer Review/Rant · 11:45pm Nov 22nd, 2019

I'll be honest about this.

This likely wasn't the best way to make my comeback to trailer reviewing. But, after seeing this, I found myself knowing exactly what I thought of this video more than with the other trailer reviews I currently have in store.

All I can definitely say about this is that it looks like the world is gonna be having some ABSOLUTE GARGBAGE coming soon.

I mean, seriously!

I get that Allspark was obviously going for a different style of animation for this upcoming spin-off, but it looks extremely hideous! The designs of each character look like they were made by an amateur doodler!

The fact that they decided to have this spin-off as a complete slice of life series focusing on the Main Six makes little to no sense. Mainly considering the solid conclusion that they were given in Friendship is Magic.

Are the original voice cast really even going to go through with reprising their roles for this? Because the designs even look like they would make them have second thoughts about doing so.

Overall, this whole thing just seems like an absolutely stupid and uninspired executive decision, completely ripping apart what it is that generated such a phenomenal series fanbase to begin with. And all for the money too!

ALLSPARK: If you really want to make a new MLP series, then might I suggest completely scrapping "Pony Life"! Because this frankly seems like a complete waste of time for anyone to focus on.

For Pete's sake, use your brains!

There are tons of characters from FiM outside of the Main Six that have the absolute potential to have their own series. Such as the Pillars of Old, the characters from the 2017 film, and Cadance and Shining Armor!

Why don't you guys want to make a series or two on characters outside of the Main Six instead?

Or how about making a completely new MLP series?

I once read that the upcoming fifth generation of MLP wasn't going to be including characters from the fourth generation, and that it would be a new series entirely.

What made you guys change your minds about this?!

So, do I think that this upcoming series, masquerading as a spin-off to FiM, is worth a look or two?

If I were you guys, I'd avoid seeing this at all.

Apart from the fact the backing track contains the word 'hell', this bodes badly.

Hasbro made a similar mistake at the end of G3, as G3.5 is basically unwatchable.

I suspect they chose the Mane 6 as they're the most marketable. Though I do agree the Pillars should have got their own series.

If Hasbro play this wrong, it'll be the Big World: Big Adventures of MLP.

I don't think it looks that bad. I mean, I agree that it looks more like a thoughtless marketing ploy than something they put actual effort into, but it could still be fun. Then again, I have seen fan artists on Twitter play around with the new art style in a way that came out tastefully, so I might be a little optimistic about this.

Especially with three certain members that are my favorites X3

Sleepwalk, Foghair, and EMT Fieldstream.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. COMPLETE TRASH, this is!!
Honestly, I’m looking forward to the G5 version; where every species has their own realm and they band together to stop evil! Kind of like the Norse Mythology, Thor and the Nine Worlds. I even heard that the characters have the POTENTIAL to have magic, they don’t naturally have it running through their systems. I like that. It’s not finding some ancient artifacts and saving the world, it’s discovering the power and learning how to use it. Unicorn, Pegasus, Earth Pony; they all have the potential to harbor magic.

Aka.... Mage Meadowbrook, Somnambula, and Mistmane :3

This is exactly what Cartoon Network did with the creation of Teen Titans Go!

Oh. You're treating this like it's Teen Titans Go! again? Seriously, your rants come off as whiny and prejudiced. If this show comes out, then we can all have opinions in it.

You talking to me or somebody else?

Ill be perfectly happy to avoid this altogether. Its a slap in the face to the magic of friendship!

Yes indeed.

They could also have done this with the CMC.

A prime example of how not to reboot a classic show.

On the other hand, here is how to do it correctly;

A good reboot, in my mind, is willing to go to new places whilst being respectful to its predecessor.

And the Student Six as well :ajsmug:

They should have got their own show. There was talk of a CMC spinoff, but that never happened.

The way the Button Mash spat was handled irks me too. In my opinion, Jan should have been hired as an animator, and Blake (ShadyVox) brought onboard as an official VA.

Been loving this since I was 5!! And I’m loving it now!!:pinkiehappy:

Been enjoying that series too.

I’ve so far only seen the first season, but now that I have Disney+...I should be able to do some catching up.

it's worth the watch
