An Update On My Mom's Condition. (updatedx3) · 9:42pm Nov 22nd, 2019
So I've been holding off on writing this for a few reasons. One, I hate asking for money. I absolutely detest being a burden on others, but well... My mom needs more help than I can give her.
Just as a recap, my mom went in for some extensive back surgery for the second time in as many years. This time was worse, much worse. Regardless, she came out okay, and things seemed to be going well at first. They fused her spine in a bunch of places, and stuffed her full of metal, but they fixed what they wanted to fix for the most part. She was supposed to be able to return to work by September at the latest, and well, its November and that hasn't happened.
So, to put this into perspective, she hasn't been able to work in just over a full calendar year at this point. But Jest, you might be asking, why hasn't she gone on disability, or welfare? She was not approved for welfare due to her owning a house despite the fact that she has 0 income, and disability has been dragging its heels for almost six months at this point. It's also not a sure thing, as she has chronic, debilitating pain and extreme weakness. To the point that standing or sitting for more than a half hour at a time is difficult. Bending down too much knocks her on her metaphorical ass for hours and strenuous activity may put her out of commission for days or even weeks at a time. Attempts at returning to the workforce have been met with weeks spent in agonizing pain and a breif return to the wheelchair.
So, to put it bluntly, her income has been next to nothing for an entire year at this point and if disability kicks in, it might not do so until next year and it might not even be backdated. Now am I going to end up homeless? Possible, but not super likely, but we've hit the bottom of the barrel. She has no savings left and the other day she came to me with tears in her eyes, asking if she could borrow money to get food because she had absolutely nothing left.
I have done as much as I can by working hard and paying for her gas, some food, as well as paying rent in advance, all the way into next year but with bills mounting and her earning nothing it's getting rather dire. Her credit cards are maxed shes been borrowing what she can and its not looking great. Right now it is uncertain if she will be able to keep the house until disability kicks in, provided it even does.
So if you have a few extra dollary doos lying around, I would appreciate a little help.(remember to indicate that its a donation by sending me a messege, or leaving a note in the donation saying something like "donation" etc) Here is the link. (Again if your donating make sure you say something like, "For yer mom." Or "I hope she gets better!" Or w/e as some people support me on paypal rather then use patreon, and I dont want to accidently pocket any money meant for her.) I know I’ve asked for help once already, and I feel terrible for even asking you good people for more assistance but I really want to be able to give my mother, and brother a christmas without having to choose between going hungry, and having a house. Which is exactly where this money is going to go (Food and shelter), should you find it in your heart to give.
Also, I don't want to take money without offering something in return, so if I get enough to cover the mortgage payment, I will release another set of updates for my primary stories in december. So 2 first law updates, 4 zerglight updates 4 born in light updates. I will also be opening 2 request slots and in addition I will put away the time necessary to finish up a slew of updates and stories I’ve had waiting in the wings.
If you don't want to donate, and just want to make my mom’s day, she has taken up drawing after I borrowed her my tablet, and has been trying her hand at designing for fabric and stuff. On sites like spoonflower, society 6, and redbubble. Even just a couple likes, and a nice comment would surely make her smile. She hasn't sold much, if anything yet, and some positive feedback would go a long way. She's still very new though, and is admittedly a novice as she can't sit for very long so all that I ask is that you be kind in the comments if you do decide to leave one.
Oh and if you wouldn't mind keeping this fundraiser thing a secret so I can surprise her that would be great! Don't worry, I will post a video of me doing said surprising once this wraps up.

Edit* We are out of the worst of it, and just over halfway to the total goal thank you so very very much! I just thought I should let you know that even if donations stop here that a good chunk of the bills are taken care of and we've honestly gotten much further then I ever thought possible. You fine people have my eternal gratitude. I pray that we can keep this up, and really take care of all of this month's bills. That would really make this a christmas miracle... In november. :P
Editx2* I gave her the bulk of the money you guys donated, as well as a gift of my own in the form of the tablet shes been borrowing from me. She was a little too embarressed for a video, but I did manage to grab a picture of her having a smoke after she finally stopped crying tears of joy. Which was something that has not happened in a long, long time. She confided in me after, admitting that she didnt know how she was goingt o afford food this week, or evne if she could and it feels really good knowing she can now do that. Life still sucks, and its going to keep sucking for awhile, but you guys have made my mom happier then shes been in a long time. We arent in the clear yet but I can say you've already made an amazing difference. As such, I'm going to leave the donation link up for now and if anymore donations come in I'll make sure they get to her. Oh and she wanted to draw you guys something, as well as write you all a thank you note, so if you want to read/see how much that money meant to her, stick around for when I drop a link to those.

Damn, if only this happened about two months later, I would have plenty of money to spare. As it is right now, I can at least say that I wish you both the best, and I hope that you reach your goal.

Not to throw you down in any way but have your tried other sources? I'm in a bind as well, so I researched a bit and saw that you could sell your plasma... some people make almost $400 a month. Just depends on your body size and weight. Again just throwing a shoe out there. I'll help on my next pay.

Yeah I mean, I know money and jobs are tough so there are alternative, not active roles. If you have O positive(or another rare Blood type) you could sell it. Especially around the holidays where its more required, they would pay more. Trust me, it can get tough, Im taking a second job on the sides, then on sundays, selling my plasma where I can get extra dough just in case.

Im sorry your mother has to go through all this. I'm guessing they fused the L3,L4, & L5 vertebraes or something similar along the lines because my father had to go through two surgeries after being struck by a car, and regretfully can't be as active as before do to it being at an area where the spine moves the most.
