    On War: The Big One

Greetings small ponies! It is I, Ziltoid the Omniscient and writer of War Against the Sun, broadcasting telepathically into your minds once again about an update as to my readings from the mile-long list of books. This time, it was Clausewitz's On War, a very solid book, if but very long and very dense in its language. Apologies for the radio silence, I've been very busy and also trying to read

    Update: More Readings

So the reading list marches on, left, 2, 3. Left, 2, 3. And this time it's the ever classic Sun Tzu's Art of War, a very short book that amounted to 6 pages of military theory notes from the oldest treatise. And the other was From Aristocracy, to Monarchy, to Democracy by Hans Hermann-Hoppe. I quit reading this book about 30 pages in because it was drivel.

Updates: On WAtS, Readings, Event Horizon, and Stories.

So as of today, I've finished The Prince by Niccolò Machiavelli, and The Dictator's Handbook: Why Good Behavior is Almost Always Good Politics. I've been taking careful notes of the three books I've read total (of which there is 61 pages and almost 20k words of), and of future events in War Against the Sun as well. Rest assured, it will come, but probably not as soon as you expect.

Readings for War Against The Sun

Lovely readers, followers, and fans of every stripe, I come to you today to report that I have finished one of the many books that I assigned myself to read before starting my next big project. One of the most influential books in the Monarchist and Authoritarian genre: The Leviathan by Thomas Hobbes, written in 1651.

    A Short Break

So folks, the next chapter of Event Horizon will be coming next week in light of my life getting increasingly busy. The usual schedule should apply after this delay, but hold onto that hype and be sure to spread the word in the meantime!

The EUP: What is it? Exactly? · 1:14am Nov 12th, 2019

The EUP has always intrigued me. A military establishment in Equestria. What does that entail? The ranks? The training? The operations it oversees? In the show, at least to where I've seen (season 6), it shows a little. That the military does exist, have ranks and a standard chain of command. But what exactly, then, does this chain wrap around?

I feel we'll never get this answer. Purely being that this isn't where MLP's head is. It isn't about war, or destruction, or the distress that comes with it. Nor can a 'Y' rating assess the complexities of such a concept. We're to assume though that it does something. The EUP still exists and is still very much operating. To the extent that the branches even have reserves (Rainbow Dash getting into the Reserves in Testing, Testing 1,2,3 confirms this). Do they fight epic wars? Engage in delicate diplomatic operations? Employ stealthy and dangerous reconnaissance? We don't know, and we won't canonically. That's where we come in though, isn't it? We can pick up there and mutate the rating to allow for any particular kind of storytelling. I do want to know all of these things and write them for myself as well.

Speaking of. This whole blog is relevant to Event Horizon. I won't say to what extent but know that this is something I've been thinking about in tangent with the story. The story that still is in production, mind you. Apologies for the haste being, well, not very hasty. It'll come in time though, hopefully with the same trademark of style you know me for.

Stay tuned folks, it's a long ride
