Late to The Final Party · 7:31pm Nov 11th, 2019
So I know I know I am late to the final party and everyone else said everything weeks ago and it's effectively over for this but do to life I wasn't able to watch the final till just a moment ago and so now I can actually say something and stop keeping my head down.
Honestly, the final was amazing. a proper send off to an amazing show that truly meant something to me beyond just entertainment.
I’ve enjoyed shows, games and things before but I have never joined a Fandom before till MLP:FiM as something about it just made me want more.
I started this journey do to a friend constantly trying to get me to watch the show and one day i was bored and decided to watch it on netflix. The next thing I knew it was 5 days later and I finished S5E13 and hit the hiatus and wanted more.
So I headed to youtube to listen to things because it was the only place to get more, this lead me to getting involved in fan content which lead me to Fallout Equestria, Before which i believed that stgma all fanfics were garbage. FoE intern led me here where i found more amazing fan content and stories i love dearly as any officially published novel and it finally reignited my spark of writing which has lead me to this point.
I’ve made some solid friends because of this fandom either through my writing or just random chance. hell without this fandom i don’t know how id have made it through being homeless or other hardships ive faced since joining this fandom that I made i through thanks to the friends ive made.
Oh God i sound like Twilight.
Well she is my Fav Pony so i guess it makes sense I'd pick up a few things from her.
Anyways suppose I should talk about the final in a tad more detail.
Overall I liked it, the final showed that while the world is great it is far from perfect, ponies can be divided with rumors and whispers, they can know fear that will paralyze them.
But despite that they can overcome it when reminded of the Magic of Friendship.
I liked that they had all the other races show up in the final fight as the battle would have been ...not good to end without all the other races met showing up to engage in defending their friends.
The only thing i have real issue with is the fact they didn't do anything with the Student Six’s treehouse despite the build up about it in S9E3 about it being important as well as the fact that the opening remained the same opening from the start of the season rather than something special for the part 2 and final episode.
Those are the only real complaints I have and they are very minor compared to the amazingness that was the last 3 episodes of one of the best shws ive ever had the privilege to watch and the Honor of being in the fandom of.
I love Twilight older design, the clear ending for many characters. I love her student and honestly i look forward to Gen 5 and where they will take the ponies.
Wheather G5 is good or bad I don't know but whatever it is it will never take what this show meant to me and what it leads to. The bounds ive formed because of this show will remain even after the show and this fandom will remain no matter what.
I am glad the show ended at this point as it was still a wonderful amazing show, sure it had ups and downs like everything but the show was amazing and I am glad it ends with its dignity and still amazing.
Anyways i don’t really have much else to say except….
I hear you in regards to the fandom. Writing as a hobby, in general, was by far the last thing I expected myself to get into before I started perusing FiMfiction, and even then it didn't take me until the end of 2017 to actually start writing, but now that I have, I found an actual passion for it, which is more than I can say for a lot of things I do in my life.
That aside, there are a couple of things, in the end, I found fairly interesting, like the fact that Twilight is clearly going to outlive the other girls by quite a bit despite the fact that the creators said that wouldn't be the case (not that I'm complaining honestly) and that so many ships were confirmed, albeit indirectly or subtlely in some cases. I also like the fact that they chose not to reform all three of my favorite villains, particularly Chrysalis who I know a lot of people were worried about.
I feel like it was the final that pushed me to finally join the fandom myself, despite the fact that I was worried that it would slowly fade away. Long before that I was always amazed by all of the great art and storytelling the fandom produced and slowly but surely I started to see why people love this series so much.
