I decided to make this blog post to help me sort out some thoughts. Every time I find myself getting back into this site I find myself feeling melancholic. I go back and look at old stories I read years ago and now I can barley remember them. I look at my to read list and I see the same stories year after year. I knew I wasn't going to read them when I added them but I have this impulse. It's weird mix of hoarding and fear of missing out. I look at the profiles of authors I whose work I used to read and see that they haven't logged on in years. They disappear without a trace. There's a feeling of loss. I find it strange because I don't get this to nearly the same degree on other fanfic sites or forums.

I think I'll keep updating this post in the comments as I have more thoughts.

I'm mostly doing this for myself which is why I haven't bothered to make it coherent.

maybe seeing the last log in date on fimfiction doesn't allow me to have any hope like the absence of that feature does on other websites
