The Lone Mare is now called Upside Down · 3:46am Nov 7th, 2019
Hello there.
As you might notice, we have changed the title of the story from The Lone Mare to Upside Down.
The reasons of this change are various, so I'll list them:
1.- We were never quite satisfied with The Lone Mare. All things considered, we're pretty lousy when it comes to naming our stories and our chapters, and that was the only title that we could come up with back then that we were even mildly on board with.
2.- The Lone Mare, as a title, is a play on the fact that Twilight is the only female on the group, as the rest of the characters have been gender-switched. This was more in line with my original vision for the story, as an exploration and deconstruction of the gender dynamics at play.
As you can see, things have changed and while we haven't abandoned at all that aspect of the story, it's no longer the driving force behind the plot that slowly but surely we're threading. So not only we weren't all that satisfied with the title, but we felt it didn't reflect the whole of the story we want to tell.
3.- Upside Down, on that sense, does a better job at conveying it exactly because it's more vague; everything is upside down in this story. Nothing is quite the same as we're used to see.
And that's a title that works both on a meta level (the genderswap, the Alternative Universe and Character Interpretations, etc), and on an in-universe one (the lives of our protagonists will never be the same). It goes beyond just our genderswap, but also englobes the alternate universe this Equestria is set upon, the events that will transpire, and the consequences they will have.
So yeah, that's about it. Hope you like the new title.
On other news, chapter 8 is two small scenes short of completion, but as it starts a story arc that spans chapters 8, 9 and 10, we won't publish it until we have them all written. We're starting chapter 9, and scattered scenes of 10 already written, so it shouldn't be awfully long until it's up.

In fact, we're still not 100% on board with Upside Down, we're just in agreement that we feel it's a better title than what we used to have,

Bummer, we suck at naming stuff, every help would be enormously appreciated!
In all honesty, I wouldn't expect this name to be the definitive one, but neither will it be changed anytime soon.

For me, the biggest problem with "The Lone Mare" as a title is that it sort of reminds me of the concept behind shortskirtsandexplosions' The End of Ponies (a lone pony in a wasteland), which is not exactly where we're going with this story.
As for "Upside Down", on the other hand, we feel it's a better reflection of the fact that everypony's lives have been turned, and/or will be turned...

(?)It's still not a perfect title, though, and we'll probably change it once we come up with something better.
That being said, if you do have any better ideas, then please, by all means, feel free to go ahead and share them! As Slireon said, any help would be tremendously appreciated since we kinda suck at naming things xd
