I have to admit, a lot of ideas I have for further Hands adventures after "The Cutie Remark" are mainly Shepherd reacting to stupid ideas.
Twilight: "Okay everypony: We are going to start... A Friendship School!"
Shepherd: "Okay... How big will this school be?"
Twilight: "A full on friendship academy! As many students as we can have!"
Shepherd: "Okay... And you'll be teaching, er, Friendship?"
Twilight: "Well, yes! All the aspects of Friendship based on the Elements of Harmony and our experiences in it! And we'll be teaching it!"
Shepherd: "Wait, what? All of us?"
Twilight: "Yes!"
Dash: "*Slowly*... Uh, Twi? I'm a Wonderbolt on tours, which means I'm part of the military. And I'm also a Weather Control Officer for Ponyville."
Pinkie: "I not only have a full time job as a baker, I'm also a party planner for all of Ponyville and Canterlot!"
Rarity: "Darling, I have three boutiques to run!"
Fluttershy: "Um, I-I have so many animals to take care of, and an animal sanctuary to manage..."
Applejack: "Ah run. A bucking. FARM."
Twilight: "Er..." *Looks to Shepherd*
Shepherd: "I have jobs as a masseuse, handyman, and Expert on Human Culture to the Princesses-Including you. I'm also the Sword of Equestria!"
Twilight: "Ummm... Well..."
Shepherd: "Have you been using the 'working in your sleep' spell again?"
Twilight: "I CAN STOP ANY TIME I WANT!"
Shepherd: "... That's a big yes."
There was a great picture I saw once on Derpi that dealt with this exact scenario. I lost my shit when Applejack deadpans, "I run a fucking farm." Wish I could find it again.

I ended up liking every creature we met at the School of Friendship, and I can TOTALLY see Twilight wanting to set up a school. But it’s pretty clear that the thing was a play set that Hasbro wanted to sell. And it couldn’t be easily slid into the setting, like the Crystal Tree Palace, which was ultimately just a big new house for Twilight and Spike.
Hmm, can't help but wonder if that says something about subsequent episodes.
I figured Starlight set up time shenanigans for everyone. Only logical explanation I could think of.

Nah, even with the forced setup, the characters themselves are still solid. There’s also plenty that doesn’t even involve the school.
