The Equestria Girls Holiday Special premiered today. Surprised me because I didn't catch anything announcing it. However, I am not posting to talk about it.
After it finished, the channel I get it on went on to show My Little Pony: A Very Minty Christmas. For those who are unfamiliar, it's a 2005 Christmas special about an earth pony named Minty, who accidentally destroys a candy cane that's supposed to help Santa find Ponyville, and tries to save Christmas for all her friends. First by trying to giver everyone socks, then by going to the North Pole to find Santa and tell him what happened.
While it was on, I caught something kind of interesting about it. There was one character that had an interesting little quirk. One that could possibly be explored more in the G4 setting.
One of the characters is a pegasus mare by the name of Thistle Whistle.
She's afraid of clouds.
A pegasus. Afraid of clouds.
Admittedly, this is set in a world where they don't have control of the weather, like in Friendship is Magic, but that gives it more potential in the newer setting to me. Imagine, a pegasus that was born and spent most of its life living on the ground, afraid of clouds. Especially storm clouds.
I think it has potential
I mean, if you're going to steal characters from G3, I'm pretty sure you're obligated to use their Rainbow Dash. >_>
(And my headcanon uses the fact that every cartoon had an Applejack as the basis for her form of immortality, because I give each of the Mane 6 a different one)

Yeah. I can definitely see that. Especially since their Rainbow Dash is so similar to the G4 Rarity that somebody might think Rainbow and Rarity were actually distantly related.

Well, according to the G3 Wiki, which turns out to be a thing, G3 My Little Pony started in 2003. The Christmas special came out in 2005, which sets it two years after G3 started.

I mean, the implication of using that particular quote is that I didn't particularly care one way or the other, because the question the Medic was answering was something to the effect of "is this safe?" and he proceeded to do it anyway, but it's still a neat fact for my insanely huge pile of neat facts.

Yeah but the art and animation style is absolutely different than G3’s animation style (thank Celestia) and looks more like G2

Yeah, G2 never had a cartoon. My Little Pony Tales is actually a series connected to the G1 franchise. G2 was an incarnation where they tried to give the ponies more horse-like proportions with the only real fiction connected to it being a computer game.
Also, the special was done in G3 style. I think you're confusing G3 with G3.5, which had a very different art style.
