State of the Scribe: April 2024

You know what they say about the best laid plans? I'll be real brief with this update, for reasons that will be self-evident.

State of the Scribe: February 2024

Another month, albeit the shortest of the year. I still haven't had a chance to get into the process side of my writing and write that detailed plan for the year, been too busy writing a novel. Guess that's a good problem to have.

State of the Scribe: January 2024

This is exactly the 71st month I've posted a patreon calendar. Almost but not quite six years of writing fanfic, sharing all these ideas with you that would otherwise stay trapped in my head. I couldn't begin this post, and the beginning of a new year without expressing my profound thanks to everyone who keeps supporting me. Your help, big or small, is the only reason I'm still able to write

New Story: The First Willowbrook Christmas!

Hey pones! A Merry Christmas to those who celebrate! Last year I wrote a short story for the holiday, but the editing pushed it back for a little while. For those who enjoyed Sisters of Willowbrook, I have a story for you to check out! The final chapter will get posted tomorrow:

Hey pones, time for your regularly scheduled Starscribe update. I'm really excited about some of the developments coming this month, so let's get right into it.

Firstly, as you can see Child of the Invasion finished last month, and its slot has been replaced with a story I'm incredibly excited about: Hour of Twilight. This story is set about a thousand years after the end of season nine, in a world where Twilight's friends did not share in her immortality and their deaths had... let's say a serious impact on her and the future of Equestria.

The idea was so exciting in fact that another one of my sponsors decided to throw their words into the story and allow me to tell a faster, more complex story. But this development didn't come until after I'd finished the first four chapters. What this means is that I'm going to delay the story making its way to Fimfiction until December, even if the cover finishes up a little before that. That way, I can expand and add to the first four chapters, so that when audiences on Fimfiction get their hooves on it, the story will be in the ideal form I imagined, without wordcount restrictions.

Other than that, we have the transition of Child of Mine to fimfiction, a story some of Patreon have already read. This is a fairly traditional TF/TG story, revolving around the unfortunate good Samaritan who finds a baby Flurry Heart abandoned in the wilderness. Expect that to be making its way to fimfiction, and so the updates on patreon will stop once it catches up.

Those are the big changes this month. No new patreon-exclusive stories, though the ones we have are making good progress. I'd like to get Hands of the Ancients onto Fimfiction now that it's done (for now), but that'll have to go into the cover queue and wait behind Hour of Twilight.

Well that's about it for this month. Next month we should be seeing the ending of another long-term storty, with another (Aurora) moving towards its conclusion as well. Thanks so much to everyone who supports me, either on Patreon or just as my readers. These last few years writing have been unbelievable, and I'm glad to keep this going a little longer.

Oh boy. Hour of Twilight's prompt sounds marvelous. I'm excited to read it once it comes to FimFiction
