The State of A Cog in the Machine · 12:25am Nov 1st, 2019
Hello everyone,
Yes, no "Howdy howdy~" this time. I wasn't planning on writing this today, but I was being asked by a reader about what was going on with A Cog in the Machine and whether or not there's going to be a new chapter or the reboot before the end of 2020 or at least during the first half of 2020... and I wasn't sure how to respond.
I've made it known to my The Poisoned Barb's Tale readers that I had returned to writing recently, and that I'll be adding new chapters to it in December, but I've not spoken about my oldest fic on this site in many years. Well, no more.
A Cog in the Machine is NOT cancelled. It's still on hiatus, and I've started and erased the re-write numerous times over the years, but I'm not going to mark it as cancelled yet. I WANT to continue and end that story some day, but right now my muse is The Poisoned Barb. I can't change my muse, no matter how much I try. I'm just lucky that I have it AT ALL right now, and I don't want to jeopardize it by splitting my attention between different stories at once. Last time I tried, If you ain't got anything nice to say got canceled.
I know it's such a stupid thing to say, but I'm sorry for letting all of you down and I'm sorry for such a long wait. I know I have many good friends who will tell me that I've not let anyone down and that this message is silly, but the situation was bugging me so I wanted to do something productive today like write this blog post. I wasn't able to concentrate on my editing like I had planned, so this was the next best thing...
... Well, thank you all for your time. Hope you all enjoy Halloween!
Love,
-Derply
Even of you never get back to that story, thank you for writing it. I stand by what I said back then. It is God Tier.

I find this story... intriguing
It warms my heart to see authors still writing on here, reduces the melancholy of finding great stories that the author stopped workimg on and vanished.

Ah yes, there have been many a great writer that has disappeared into the ether over the years, or lost the joy of ponies. It's sad to think that the best years of this fandom are long behind us, but I personally want to continue to hold onto the spark that originally encouraged me to give writing a second chance for as long as I can.
As long as this site is kicking, I wish to continue to inspire others to open their hearts and imaginations to Worlds they once thought impossible. I'll keep the lights on here in Ponyland in the meantime, and hold onto the hope that the next "Generation" will get the opportunity to see the same magic that we once all felt someday ^_^

We'll be here as long as we are able friend. I never really used to talk to people or leave reviews and I regret that now. What if just one positive comment, on review, would have kept a person's interest? Only recently did it occur to me that the fandom has been bleeding for a long time, and I doubt there is much we can 'cept apply pressure and keep on trudging as long as possible. Let's keep the lights on together, friend.

FIM used to seem to big to fail, it's only when you go through the groups that you realize how desolate it truly is.
