Sometimes I feel like the site's town crier. Look in this direction, for a brother be hurtin'! Also, I have a bell and I'm only very afraid to use it! If so, I'm a weird choice for the role: there are those better-equipped in raw numbers to spread the word, and my reputation for raw cynicism may proceed me. 'Oh, Estee thinks this person deserves assistance. I wonder how many orphanages they've burned down.'
Which, by the way, is completely unfair. I have never promoted the welfare of anyone who's burned down an orphanage.
...that I know of.

But this is one of those situations where I offered to spread the word, and it's also a chance to update some people on a prior situation. So...
Last May, one of the site's members left. Superdeleted, at their own request: everything they'd ever done was taken down. Why?
A whole lot of reasons.
We talked about it for a while.
To no real avail.
...so. I said this was both positive and awkward. Here's the positive: Princeps recently made contact. Alive and -- 'well' is sort of subjective, because the medical condition is still present. In fact, he's got surgery coming up in a few months -- and I'm calling that another positive because just having the surgery represents the choice to fight. After everything which happened before... it's a good sign.
The awkward part is that I'm trying to spread the word on a fundraiser for someone who isn't currently here. I can't recommend that you go and look at his FIMFic work, because that was taken down. (It may be possible to find some of it through FIMFetch, and I say 'may' because that site's search engine hates me to the point where I can't even locate my own writing. Hopefully some people have good memories of him.) However, he has recently posted a couple of sample pieces -- and we'll get to those in a second.
The fundraiser aspect? Naturally, that's for surgical expenses. (The goal isn't all that nightmarish, but it's not completely casual either.) He's started a Ko-Fi page in an attempt to reach the total, and -- I swear I didn't know it was possible to do this until today -- posted a pair of sample short stories on it. However, I've advised him to also get a GoFundMe page going, if that can be done in his nation. Ko-Fi goes through PayPal, and that means losing a portion of every tip: GFM would let him keep more of the funds. If he is able to start that page, I'll update this blog accordingly.
So he's chosen to fight. Which means there's a need to get him some workable boxing gloves.
With that in mind:

As always, everyone who might read this needs to make their own call as to what they want to do here. For my part, I wanted to spread the word on this one, because -- not going gently into that good night is usually the right decision and after what happened before... it wasn't a decision I was expecting. So this is how I can try to support that choice.
Besides, he used to read my work. By definition, he's suffered enough.

Good to get some news about him and a way to contact him. I wasn't able to keep in touch. The fact that he's getting the surgery is indeed a very encouraging sign. Thank you for ringing that bell, Estee.

Honestly, if someone managed to burn down a basketball court I'd be too impressed at the difficulty to have a problem with them. (The surrounding building is not part of the basketball court, and floors burn up, not down.)
On a holiday note, I think Tom Brady missed the irony.

If you're going to say stuff like that, at least change your username and avatar first. You'll still be downvoted to hell and back for being Captain Planet villain levels of pointless asshattery, but at least you won't be profaning the good name of Best Pony in the process.
Come to think of it, the part Fluttershy would actually take issue with is the implication that not meeting some arbitrary definition of "person" means you deserve whatever slow and painful death the US medical system would have princeps/David suffer. (Because the main issue with capitalism is that basic human dignity is tremendously unprofitable, just like the major issue with communism is that it has to change most of modern human psychology before it can work)

Good to hear there was enough progress for him to have a surgery, if there hadn't been before. I'm gonna be honest and admit that I've forgotten most of the original blog except for the name of the individual in question. Thank you for spreading the word with the update.
I never thought of posting short excerpts on Ko-Fi before, but I guess what's to stop people from just pasting them in under their bios like ff.net users did, or use customizable text-boxes like how this site's user pages work.

Not to dogpile on you, but this reads as either tasteless trolling (since the person being discussed is in severe medical trouble IRL and it just makes you look like an asshole) or extreme narrow-mindedness on your part, if you're actually at all serious about it. I mean, think about just how many people you're deciding to 'un-person' like that. ...Just for losing interest in a cartoon? As if that had any true reflection of a person's character beyond changing tastes in media? It's absurd. It's not really a Fluttershy move, man.

It's not attention-seeking or circlejerking to promote a health fundraiser for a former member of the community that needs help.
Attention-seeking is generally done for oneself and circlejerking is just a group of people coming to together to cross-promote (aka shill) each other's content to their own respective audiences in an annoying, grating way that disrupts the otherwise organic flow of the content.
Usually done on big, big streams between multiple channels who use this to financially gain from the people who check out the promoted content in some way.
Neither of those things have anything to do with this situation because no one is profiting here except hopefully the fund recipient and it's not like there's been ten blogs about it spamming our feeds either. Not trying to start anything or clutter up the blog with replies, if you want to keep talking about this, feel free to PM me instead.
