Changes, beginnings, and I'm glad you're with me here at the end of all things · 3:01am Oct 31st, 2019
If you haven't seen all of S9 yet, this will contain spoilers! You have been warned!
That everyone?
OK.
October is seeing a lot of changes around here. The end of MLP, Equestria Girls' ending is nigh, and I'm moving farther than I ever have before across the country.
So I'm conflicted. On the one hoof, I'm sad that the show that has given me a lot of good friends - and led to me meeting my girlfriend quite by accident - and has opened the door for a consistent writing pastime.
Well, maybe not consistent. Needs must and all that, you know.
So yes, MLP has brought me a lot of good things in the last sevenish years I've been involved. I don't quite remember how I got into the fandom. It was either a friend asking if I minded if they watched something while I fixed food or I was told to check it out. It may have been both. But I came in just before the wings did and have been more or less hooked since.
But I'm also upset at some of the things they did in the end. I've never been fond of how little they used the Student Six. I felt that they could have done more with them, maybe even something like passing on the torch type setup. While I was excited to see Cheese and Quibble show back up just because returning characters are awesome. Diamond Tiara vanished after the CMC got their marks. Have we seen Cheerilee lately? Dr Hooves? I would have been happy for Moondancer, the Kirin, or even hippogryphs other than Silversteam with actual speaking roles. Even having Sunset or Tempest be more than just background appearances would have been awesome!
I'm not trying to bring down the establishment. A lot of what they did was good. Twilight's maturity through the opening of the school and eventually assuming the throne was a good thing, even is she did backslide once or twice. Having the villains use the hero's own method against them was great! It's a good turn around and it always works. In shows at least. Not sure about the actual world.
I am a little upset at no redeemed Chryssy. I really wanted to see that. But she tried to take somepony with her, so props for consistency.
Now, I'm not going to end there, because there are a lot of great things about the show. How it brought together ten thousand people to the final Bronycon. How it consistently brings in thousands of people to events like Everfree Northwest and Babscon and Trotcon and others. How a site like this one can even exist and communities form organically around the shared love of small pastel multicolored equines. How most of us as a whole are better people for it.
I'm going to miss G4, but I've got words in my head and it's our turn to write the storylines until G5 shows up. And then watch as people ship New Pony A with Queen Twilight.
Why are you looking at me like that?
Other News: Like I said earlier, the first week of November is moving week for me, so no Anniversary stuff this year. I've got 1900 miles to travel and I'm not looking forward to any part of it except the arrival part. As comfy as my car is, three days behind the wheel is not my idea of fun. So be patient in the meantime, it may be a bit before I have new Trials, Sorceress, or Bodyguard stuff. But hang in there, because it will be coming.
Speaking of Homecoming stuff...
Trials marks the end of Arc Two of Homecoming. What's in Arc Three, you ask?
Arc three contains stories like Crystal, Comparing Notes, With this Ring, Alone Time, On the Inside, Peaceful Easy Feeling (TBD) and an Unnamed MidLight series. There are a handful of stories to be told with things like pregnant Sunny, parenthood strife, holidays when your extended family is half pony, etc. But it will end soon, mainly because I never intended Homecoming to be a series. Stuff just kept... popping up.
Arc one was Sunset's journey to accept and embrace the love of another despite what she did. Arc two is intended to culminate with her accepting her role in Equestrian society, admitting that she doesn't fight because she fears or hates what's in front of her, but to protect the ones behind her. With her getting married and now her wife expecting their first child, the stakes are much higher than friendship and loyalty. Arc Three will be the slow passing of the torch to the next generation. Things have been rough for Sunset and SunshineTwi, so they deserve a bit of a breather. After fighting a zombie army, the literal end of the world, and being tossed through a ley line convergence, parenthood will be a breeze, right?
The difficult thing is as much as I know it has to end, I'm very much pulling a Tenth Doctor right now. I dont want it to go. Homecoming is what brought me here, brought so many of you here, and pushed me together with one of the best girls I could ever know. But all good things must come to an end.
G4 met its end gracefully. Homecoming will meet its finale with a bang, and I'll move on to the next body of work.
And for each of you that have followed me or a story of mine, I am so very glad that you are with me here, when change is going to be rampant. I may step away once in a while...
But I'll never leave here.
It's always good to come home.
Rose
If you don’t mind me asking, what’s the rough geographical location of the 1900 mile move? Just out of curiosity.
Also, since it’s topical, the vast majority of my stories are set pre-ascension for Twilight, so honestly the ending of G4 has less of an impact on my writing than for some.

Montana
Big Sky country!
I have a former classmate who moved there from the safe embrace of Michigan. She seems happy with it, at least if her Facebook posts are to be trusted. I also have a former friend with benefits who was from Bozeman, which I think is the same city Mark McGuire came from, but I could be wrong about that. Too lazy to google it.
Anyway, good luck with that. From what I’ve heard, hope you’ve got plenty of warm clothes.

Ah! *waves from western WA*
Well, you're at least a lot closer to EFNW and Babs now! :)
What you said at the end, that was very poetic
I have a to-do list that hasn’t gotten any shorter just because FIM wound up.
Well then thanks for one hell of a ride
