It's the obligatory new year blog post.

And yes, I am posting this at around midnight on new year. I have a nasty cold, so I decided to disobey nurgle's one command and stay home.

    Just for kicks

I'm mucking around with Lulu for a work-related project (very boring stuff) and thought I would do a quality test with something fun.

Or maybe that comma is in the wrong place. I haven't decided yet.

    The odd things

I've just been reading through old comments on my scraps story, after publishing yet another chunk from the ancient cutting room floor. It's remarkable how many of the commenters are still around - but also how many logged off for the last time, soon after making their last comment there.

    But in brighter news

While I'm not making any promises about any particular project here, I am actually writing again. I figure if I write enough of something, some pony words might drop out somewhere along the line as well. You never know. What I'm working on at the moment is essentially a re-write of a story I read a long time ago; an old pulp sci-fi tale, about a spaceship that manages to get lost in the

Of all the fics I wrote, there are two that I consistently go back to read · 11:19pm Oct 22nd, 2019

That is, of all the pony fics I wrote, there are two.

TGuiding Light
Calamity befalls the royalty of Equestria and, in lieu of plans that took decades to create and moments to ruin, control of the cosmos is bequeathed to the only pony Celestia had time to empower.

TSuccession
When she was birthed with horn and wings she was thought to be a pegacorn, a rare and blessed blending of the tribes, whose long life and power brought wealth and stature. Then the guards came, seeking the first alicorn born in over a thousand years.

They aren't the best writing. There are plot holes, poor spellings (Despite the best efforts of certain wonderful people), repetitions, weird grammar, repetitions, poor characterisation, repetitions, inconsistent tone...

I love them, even so.

I had planned to write a retrospective of these two fics (and a re-write of one at some point), but the creative application of words is apparently alien to me at this point in my life. What plans I may have had must be considered on hiatus, as so many of my other fics are currently marked. I hate leaving things unfinished. Perhaps that's why I like these two in particular: they are complete, and whole, and done. They became what they were meant to be.

I have a couple more that will reach that state, eventually. Hopefully soon. In the meantime, if you haven't read these two, I ask that you consider them. They're milestones, of a sort, old as they might be.

See you shortly, again. :derpytongue2:

hm, it's on my RIL and i've read the first two chapters. time to dive in!

And so you should. I adore Guiding Light. My only regret is that the sequel was never finished, I wanted so much more of that universe.

"You could have asked." is one of those lines that's probably going to stick with me forever. :rainbowlaugh:
