Chapter 10, Pace, Questions Questioned · 10:12pm Oct 20th, 2019
Well, there's my initial dump of content: I figured 10 chapters over the course of the first week of the fic would make a good introductory pace to get enough out there for people to sink their teeth into. Now that we've made it that far, I can slow my roll a little.
From here on out expect one or two chapters each week, sometimes a little more or less. I might want to get three or more out in quick succession to cover some series of events without drawing it out, or I might want to slow-roll a dramatic reveal (or just keep pace with my authorial output).
But this also brings me to a question about questions: I was considering dropping in an FAQ or similar update, covering background information and other details through a blog post. It wouldn't be mandatory reading, but it might help clarify things if people are wondering about certain issues like 'When is this happening in canon' and so forth.
IF YOU'D BE INTERESTED IN AN FAQ, they'd be taking place roughly every 20 chapters or so: So we'd be halfway to the first one right now. Let me know in the comments of this blog post if you'd be up for it: I'm good either way, but if people do want it then it'd behoove (heh) me to get some questions in advance so I can have the answers ready and set to post.
Either way, thanks for joining me so far and I hope you continue to enjoy this long weird ride! :V
If no one else wants them just inject them straight into my veins, thanks.
Everything should have an explanation, even if it's just "because Pinkie Pie". if the readers are having trouble finding them, that's a good portion of what supplementary materials are for.
Have you thought of setting it up as a side story?
Like a psudeo documentary.

I definitely did consider that: After all, the same concept in 4o2 back in the day was done using omake-style .5 chapters. As it is, I feel like that would disrupt the flow too much, so they'd most likely fit better as a blog post linked externally with an author's note. No need to have the explanation be diagetic at that point, which saves me a lot of trouble.

Yeah, so far everything does in fact have an explanation or origin. As for the readers finding them... This would be more likely to cover things that don't get surfaced naturally in the story. The prior timeline of events, or even just the general timeframe, are determined. But that is likely never going to get explicitly-explained in character, while an FAQ putting the info out there is more feasible.

Natch.
