    River City Equestria Girls?

Seriously, that's Pinkie Pie on the left, and Rainbow Dash on the right. Tell me I'm wrong.

I will not write a fanfic about the two of them getting into all the fights.

    Probably.

An "I don't have livejournal anymore" sort of update.

    It snowed yesterday.

Which just reminded me how much I don't like winter. It wasn't even a bad snow, just enough of a dusting to linger for a little bit. First one of the season. And I even had the day off from work, due to my schedule, so it's not like I had to do anything ...

    So I didn't.

    Happy Halloween!

So yeah. Despite various distractions (Steam had Darkest Dungeon for UNDER FOUR BUCKS), I've managed to hammer out a ridiculously shippy conclusion to the self indulgent Rarijack story I started.

So that's fun? I gave myself a deadline to finish things on Oct 31, so that's what I did, dangit. Hopefully you guys will enjoy.

Tumbleweed vs. Sunset's Backstage Pass · 12:09am Oct 18th, 2019

WELP.

How did this happen and nobody talk about it? Like, I guess all those festival shorts (which are mostly notable for Rarijack screenshots and SKULLCRUNCHER FLUTTERSHY) were leading up to it, and ... uh, yeah. It probably doesn't help that having episodes released via the Discovery Channel app or whatever isn't the best way to get them out there. But still.

And, uh, yeah. This was the big 'grand finale' I thought was going to be A Thing but then it turned out not to be that. Like, the Dazzlings return! Shit's gotta be bad for that, right? It'll be epic!

And, uh, it wasn't.

Which isn't to say it was BAD, mind you. In fact, I had a lot of fun with this. It's just that the Dazzlings (who, I should note, are rather shallow and boring villains) ultimately amounted to red herrings. Which is appropriate, 'cause fish jokes. Whoo.

This said, "Groundhog day, only ponies" is a great idea that I'm kind of surprised it took 'til now to get to. The cartoon was entertaining enough, even if it didn't quite play around with the 'time loop' thing as much as it could have. For other examples, see the (surprisingly not-terrible) flick Happy Death Day, or the Legends of Tomorrow episode "Here I Go Again." You should all be watching Legends of Tomorrow anyway, but still.

The other funny thing about this episode/special/whatever is the "music festival" setting, which ... well, it's certainly ripe for storytelling, but it's also a shitty way to see music. Everyone knows that the best way to see music is at some crowded and sticky and dirty-ass venue that may be literally underground. Anything larger scale than that is just pretentious. Like, if for whatever reason you meet me in person (I'm thinking about going to EFNW 2020!), ask me about the first time I saw Guitar Wolf play. It is a tale, my friends.

Just saying basement shows tend to be kinda imperfect by their very nature so you don't gotta worry about getting stuck in a time loop, is all.

Also I'm headcanoning Security Moustache Man as Bulk Biceps' dad.

Security Moustache Man is best pony.

That security guy suffered so much, and he doesn't even know it.

Ahem.

I miss nothing. Except the G. M. Berrow books; I'm not that dedicated.

But yeah, this was some fun Sunpie and timeloop shenanigans. Though I still don't see why the Time Twirler needed the ability to look at things. Ugh. :fluttershyouch:

I hope to see you at Everfree next year!

Oh hell yeah. He kinda looked and acted like a Ron Swanson character and I am entirely OK with this.

actually holiday unwrapped is the "final"

It was a fun, solid movie. The EQG staff thought they were going to make several more of this before the plug got pulled, which is why it doesn't really feel like a finale.

I do feel like the collective shorts might be even better than this, because a music festival is not a great way to hear music, but it is a great way to randomly pair people up.

It's interesting that this movie seems to imply that Sunset is closer to Pinkie than anyone else. Is Pinkie the reason writers on Twitter were saying Sunset is bi?
