I think the moon that ponies talk about could refer to a moon cycle. A moon cycle refer to the moon cycling through the four phase: First Quarter, Full Moon, Last Quarter, and New Moon which last about 7 days each.
First Quarter = 7 days
Full Moon = 7 days
Last Quarter = 7 days
New Moon = 7 days
= 1 month (28 days)
So the ponies could follow a lunar calendar.
6 months x 30 days = 180 days
6 month x 29 days = 174 days
Luna Year x 12 months = 354 days
1 moon = about 1 month(28 day)
5 moon = about 1/2 year(140 day)
10 moon = about 1 year(280 day)
50 moon = about 5 year(1,400 day)
100 moon = about 10 year(2,800 day)
500 moon = about 50 year(14,000 day)
1,000 moon = about 100 year(28,000 day)
5,000 moon = about 500 year(140,000 day)
10,000 moon = about 1,000 year(280,000 day)
50,000 moon = about 5,000 year(1,400,000day)
On this thread, Swordtune help me to realize that the golden bit equal two American dollars. Also in the show, Fluttershy have been shown paying with a silver bit. So we could have:
1 Gold bit = $2.00 American dollars
1 Silver bit = $1.00 American dollars
1 Bronze bit = $0.50 American dollars
1 Copper bit = $0.25 American dollars
On gems, we haven't figure an exchange rates yet.
