    What's your favorite story?

    I need some inspiration.
I do a whole lot of writing, but I don't read nearly as much as I should.
There are so many authors out there who could really help me develop as a writer, but there are also authors out there like Shortskirtsandexplosions. (It's OK. He'll never know I said that since he doesn't follow me. Yet.)

    Want your suggestions

I just wanted to know which character from the show that you like or would like to see more of. I've tried using characters like Feather Bangs and Countess Coloratura just because I feel like they're underutilized and interesting considering most stories are about Twilight, Rainbow Dash or Fluttershy (or Anon).

    Thanksgiving Story

So, for those of you who didn't know, I made a Thanksgiving story 6 years ago.
Actually, the funny thing is, I only made it a Thanksgiving story in general so that the story aprrovers would allow it in the first place.

Feeling salty. Might delete later. Idk tho · 4:28am Oct 16th, 2019

So I just finished the series finale of the show, and if you haven't watched it yet, SPOILERS!

Is everyone who hasn't seen it yet gone? Good. Let's talk about it for a minute.

So first of all, how did you all like it? I personally have enjoyed almost everything this show has come out with. I enjoyed season 3. I enjoyed the first two Equestria Girls movies. I even enjoyed the theatrical film to an extent. This finale, though, I felt was a let down. Sorry if that's just me being a downer, but seeing as how this was the series finale of a HUGE show like My Little Pony, which is easily Hasbro's biggest achievement, they needed to pull out all the stops here. They did that PERFECTLY with episode 24! There was so much tension! Every character had their own contribution! I never would have guessed that Discord was Grogar. The scene where Rarity's magic saved Twilight at the end of the episode had me speechless. I was rooting for both the heroes and the villains. Everything was going exactly how it should have! And theeeeeen episode 25 happened.

Don't get me wrong; episode 25 was good for a good chunk of it. It had Glimglam once again saving the day, which is something that I've always loved (especially since most people don't realize that she's probably the most powerful unicorn in all of Equestria). It brought in a huge war with the ponies, yaks, dragons, griffons, hippogriffs and changelings--and in case you didn't see, there were also buffalo there too. This had the making to be the biggest fight since the season 4 finale. And then... it wasn't. Remember when the mane 6 had their super saiyan hair in the season 4 finale? They had the perfect opportunity to do that again here, especially since they basically affirmed what should have been obvious since the second episode of the show, that the magic of friendship was within them the whole time! That's not the part that made me mad, though. In this show, we've seen the reformation of Trixie, Discord, Gilda, Nightmare Moon, Diamond Tiara, the entire changeling hive, Starlight Glimmer, FREAKING AHUIZOTL, and even Sunset Shimmer, whose reformation was a complete 180 of her original character. Cozy Glow did something bad again? I guess Tartarus wasn't bad enough. Let's just effing kill her this time! The one time when I wanted a villain to be reformed, the one time when they gathered all the villains who hadn't been reformed into one place, and rather than using this as the time when they could have reformed every non-reformed villain in the perfect moment, Discord killed them. Not only that, but this all happened in a span of two minutes. They had three episodes worth of television time, and they felt like they had to wrap it all up halfway through the second episode. Had to make room for the donuts scene at the end, right? Completely ruined the immersion for me, but that's not even the worst part.

Ohhhh season 9 episode 26. Yooouuuu little bugger. Where do I even begin with you? How about we start with the whole Twilight being the sole monarch over Equestria? She was just one pony in the mane 6, and her role was no more powerful than that of any of her friends, yet somehow she was given the sole crown of all of Equestria? Let's not forget that the reason she gained wings in the first place was because she was good at magic and completed a spell that Starswirl couldn't figure out (something which Glimglam did better in season 5, btw). I was under the impression that they would all be crowned equal princesses to rule over Equestria, but no? Just Twilight? Oh, of course. We can't forget the friendship ambassador. Speaking of which, was anyone else mad that princesshood somehow gives you a Celestia body whereas everypony else was stuck with the same regular designs?

Now, beyond that. I don't think any of us are questioning the fact that the first half of the episode was filler. The whole "Oh, no! The coronation is turning out to be a disaster!" storyline didn't contribute to the series in any way other than taking up time. Sure, it was nice to see Twilight with a student similar to how she was a student of Celestia (even though she already did that with Glimglam), but it really didn't have the same feeling. Twilight was timid and unsure when Celestia sent her to Ponyville, whereas Luster Dawn was kinda cocky. She's allowed to have her own character, but it detracts from the comparison they were trying to make with the series premiere. Not only that, but Pinkie Pie was the only member of the mane 6 that I enjoyed seeing in that episode. It was kinda nice seeing that she had built a legitimate family of her own, especially since her character seemed to be one where she couldn't take responsibilities seriously. I felt that this was a huge growing point for her, even if she did have implied sex with Weird Al. Rarity and Fluttershy have accomplished basically nothing with their time since episode 25. Then there was the forced AppleDash ship... Oh, don't even get me started with that forced AppleDash ship... Plus, they all looked old and tired, which they may have been, but you can make them look older without giving them bags under their eyes. Just look at Mayor Mare for instance. She would look old even with her normal pink mane. With all the aging up they did, it would have at least been nice to see what Flurry Heart looked like in a couple of years. (Also, as a sidenote, I know that making Starlight Glimmer headmare of the school of friendship was a big growing point, but has she accomplished nothing else since then? She was the PERFECT candidate to have a foal, but I guess that wasn't important enough).

Sorry to be a downer. Might delete later, but I had to get that off my chest. This was probably the worst letdown since the third Equestria Girls movie (or worse, the fourth).

I have to agree with the Twilight princess ruler of equestria bit, it just felt a little sudden to me, one day Celestia and Luna decide “hey how about we stop the 1000 year reign of ours and give it to a mare who freaks out and panics over the simplest things, no regency council or heck even just establish twilight as a part of the government to ease the load off their backs, nope we are heading to a retirement home for an eternity, bye.
Ahem you can see I am a wee bit salty about that part.

I didn't have an issue with this at all. These three were beyond saving or being reasoned with. What else did you expect them to do? Killing them was the only way to deal with them.

Where do I even begin with you? How about we start with the whole Twilight being the sole monarch over Equestria? She was just one pony in the mane 6, and her role was no more powerful than that of any of her friends, yet somehow she was given the sole crown of all of Equestria? I was under the impression that they would all be crowned equal princesses to rule over Equestria, but no? Just Twilight?

I for one am beyond relieved that the writers didn't make them all princesses. They do rule Equestria together. However, it's not in a typical way.

Speaking of which, was anyone else mad that princesshood somehow gives you a Celestia body

Honestly, thia bohered the crap out of me too. They basically took Celestia and recolored her as Twilight. Could they honestly not be bothered to come up with a new character design for her?

Rarity and Fluttershy have accomplished basically nothing with their time since episode 25.

Fluttershy, sure, but Rarity has expanded her business to where it's pretty much a global empire.

Then there was the forced AppleDash ship... Oh, don't even get me started with that forced AppleDash ship

I didn't see it as shipping. I saw it as them juat doing what they always do, bickering with one another. But I can totally see why one would assume that's the writers teasing us.

5140504 I didn't have an issue with this at all. First and foremost, it was always a part of Lauren Faust's plan to have Twilight become Celestia's successor. Secondly, a lot of the issues you brought up, such as Twilight freaking out, were brought up and dealt with throughout the season.

making Starlight Glimmer headmare of the school of friendship was a big growing point, but has she accomplished nothing else since then? She was the PERFECT candidate to have a foal

Who do you think is Luster Dawn's Mom? (And a quick glance at Luster's cutie mark can tell you who dad is.)

This is good headcanon. I like it.

Firstly, don't apologize for venting. You did here, in a rational matter. And you're definitely not the only one with issues with the finale. I think the finale is good, but I definitely am angry over not even attempting to try to redeem Cozy Glow. In fact, I think the writers dropped the ball on Cozy Glow in both season 8 and season 9. I think Discord should have gotten a severe punishment for his role in those events. None of this would have happened if he hadn't A. gathered together the Legion Of Doom and B. then told them about Grogar's Bell and where it was!

I was fine with the epilogue, but yeah a more bookish, socially awkward version of Luster Dawn would have fit with the theme better. Luster Dawn seemed to be doing fine with how she was.

To bring the mood back up, I also have enjoyed probably 90% of what "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic" has produced. I think Season 2 is their best work, because pretty much every episode is good. Season 1, honestly, I feel like close to half the episodes are more or less filler.

And I've seen some griping about season 8 and 9 overall...I think they have an abundance of great episodes the last two years. (As long as they didn't involve the Young Six at least). "The Maud Couple", "Road To Friendship", "Common Ground", the one with the Great Seedling, "Growing Up Is Hard To Do" (Oh man, this may be the best episode in several seasons, and honestly I'd have been thrilled if this had been the finale), and others.

5140578
That's not been confirmed in canon, but that is what I believe as well.

5140508
Ok, two things. Well, maybe more than two.

1. Stop saying the Legion Of Doom are dead. Discord even basically says they are still alive, just trapped together like how Discord was.

2. I don't know about Tirek or Chrysalis, but I will (metaphorically) die on the hill that Cozy Glow needed an actual chance at redemption. At the end of season 8, they throw her (a pegasus, not even a unicorn who can use magic) into their version of Hell. Not only that they put her right by Tirek who gave her the info/idea that got her thrown into Tartarus in the first place! (This is what I meant about the writers dropping the ball on her).

3. And then of course Discord gathers the Legion Of Doom together, and sends them off after Grogar's Bell. They wouldn't need to be turned into stone if it wasn't for Discord to begin with! Or release just Cozy Glow into some MLP version of a mental asylum or a "Home For Troubled Foals". Heck, just not told them about Grogar's Bell. Those three were showing signs of bonding, even if it was a weird "Frenemy" type bonding.

Admittedly haven't seen it yet, but it sounds like they went with Lauren Faust's idea for Twilight, which I never liked. Other than Smolder and maybe Gallus at a stretch I just don't care about the student six in general, nor have I liked most of Josh Haber's writing, but I'll admit he's gotten better over time; I think he was just too inexperienced for the role suddenly thrust on him, like many of the new writers.

I blame Hasbro for the majority of bad decisions; they're the final arbiter, they hold the writers back, and is the rumor true that the new writers weren't allowed to watch the older seasons?! Seriously, WTF if that's true, I know they're a business above all but that just communicates they give no fucks about their product beyond money, but then again I've known that since G1 Transformers when they butchered the cast to make way for new toys. (Granted I love season 3 of G1!)

So whatever the results, I do thank the writers for what they've done and like to believe they always did their best. I'm with you on the EG third and fourth movies being disappoints though (Had to force myself through them), and I'm kinda glad not every villain ended up redeemed, even if giving up on someone so young like Cozy so easily seems ridiculous IMO. Chrysalis always struck me as a psychopath though, and aside from his brother has Tirek ever cared about anyone? So altering them was a slim chance IMO.

Luster is implied to be Starlight and Sunburst's kid.

Yes, and she gleefully said that she would do it all again if given the chance. Like Chrysalis and Tirek, she was beyond saving or being reasoned with. Turning her to stone was the only thing they could do at that point.

Or, you know what would have been better? Not having this stupid plot to begin with! This plot could have and should have been done back in season eight. But, no, Cozy Glow ruined any chance of that! It doesn't help that this season took a huge piss on all of the character development that Discord got throughout the past six seasons.

Those three were showing signs of bonding, even if it was a weird "Frenemy" type bonding.

No, they weren't.

Queen Chrysalis: My magic...
Queen Chrysalis: I-I wasn't sure you were going to give it back.
Lord Tirek: Neither was I. But working together seemed smarter than to continue fighting.
Cozy Glow: When we helped each other, it felt better somehow.
Queen Chrysalis: I haven't felt like this since before I lost my hive. Having others who will be there for you is... pleasing.
Lord Tirek: All of these years taking power from ponies...
Cozy Glow: When you use your power to help others...
Queen Chrysalis: Yes, it feels... nooooooooo!
Cozy Glow and Lord Tirek: Whoa!
Queen Chrysalis: The Magic of Friendship is like a disease! An infection that spreads to those around you! I watched it infect my hive! I will not let it get me!
Cozy Glow: Same.
Lord Tirek: Obviously.

Yeah, I was really not happy the show ended up petrifying the villains, possibly forever, especially the child that is basically harmless without outside assistance.

On the other hand, I could see the rest of the Mane 6 really not wanting to rule Equestria with Twilight (beyond monthly meetings). Rarity wants to run all those fashion boutiques, and the rest of them wanted to get married. Twilight is the one who seems like she has no personal time or family beyond Spike.

5140578
5140595 According to an EQG interview Josh Haber meant Luster Dawn to be Starlight and Sunburst's foal.

While I can see why Cozy Glow, Tirek, and Chrysalis were beyond saving, in my opinion, turning Cozy Glow to stone is just over the top. I mean...just imagine having to live for all eternity encased in stone, not being able to move, talk, or do anything (excluding think), except watch as the world changes around you, both the good and the bad...that can really have a lasting effect on your mentality and psyche...especially for somepony as young as Cozy Glow. It's fine with the rest of you if you believe this was the only way, but for me, this was just far too much for her...even worse than her being trapped in Tartarus:ajsleepy:. First Discord was turned to stone for a hole millennium, and now Cozy Glow will be suffering the same fate...I wouldn't wish that on any child:fluttershysad:.

You know what would be a funny idea for a story.

A very devout fan [aka the most stereotypical fanboi/girl bought to the highest level of satire] of MLP:FiM coming in right before the villains get petrified. With the one sole purpose to tell off the whole cast about all the problems they've seen with the show up to this point. They'd bring up things like missing endings for side stories, characters who never finished their arc etc.

They could even rant about the future time skip.

It would hilarious to see everyone's face.

And just a side note, I don't think the villains would be the first ones getting petrified.

I just sorta got this idea form reading this blog post. ha.
