Show's over · 4:55am Oct 13th, 2019
I’ll be deleting my account tomorrow and moving to a new fandom. Maybe Ducktales. They’ve got cars in Ducktales, and I can write literally hundreds of slice of life stories about Donald fixing his car.
...
I speak in jest, of course. As I’ve said before, the ride never ends.
I’d like to say something profound, but that’s not exactly my nature. Instead, I’ll say that I watched the episode with a few close friends, at an airport of all places. In fact, ROBCakeran53 had to step outside for a few minutes to guide an airplane into its parking spot. I took a picture, but it didn’t really come out, so you’ll have to settle for this dramatic reenactment:
Source
We sat on couches and chairs, we made snide comments at some parts of the episode and admiring comments at others; we called out ponies we liked when we spotted them, we advanced silly theories for how they might resolve the episode. [Spoiler, it wasn’t Berry Punch drunken mastering all the baddies and becoming an alicorn princess, which is honestly a shame because that would have been a great twist ending.]
And when we get down to it, isn’t that what the fandom is? A bunch of friends, hanging out together when we can, talking about ponies and whatever else, creating our music and our art and our stories. In fact, I’d argue that those of us on the writing side at least now have an even nobler mission; we can continue from where the show left off like the writers in so many other fandoms do.
I guess in conclusion while there won’t be any new episodes until G5 launches, there will still be comics, there will be the movie, and most importantly, there will still be the fandom.
Also, spoiler for realsies, Pinkie has a bazooka.
It's like Simon said in Gurren Lagann:
"This isn't good-bye. You're always here. ---> "
Sounds like a good time was had.
One door closes. A hundred more open. It's your choice to choose the door that you think is destined to be.
We have reached our destination, but the journey has just begun.
That pic is a good idea of what I was doing. It was fun to see it with you and the others.
There were some brief glimpses of a Power Ponies comic book cover.
Looked a lot like Action Comics #1

Spike better hang on that to one, in a few more decades it'll be worth a ton, both for itself and for having been owned by Princess Twilight's #1 Assistant.
The ride never ends, and the magic never dies.
Pinkie:What are we going to do Twilight?
Twilight:Same thing we do every time Pinkie. Try to save the world.
One they missed?
Chacelor Neighsay:Someones Plagarising.
I wouldve likes Derpy and The Bell, but we couldnt always rely on MacMuffins.
What really got me was one particular shot, that Ive never read, never seen, and only heard of indirectly, and took me longer to recover due to age than what it lasted on screen. Im just so very glad that no balloons were involved. It was still an OH ST moment.
I have a good mind to trundle up to the top of the hill and look out for a while.
From there. I can see forever.
Our turn. Let's see what wonders we can create.
Its not goodbye so much as a "see ya later"
5137647
Didn’t Spock say that?
5137579
Agreed. Pony is dead. Long live pony.
Which will be the start of Gen 5 not a Gen 4 story.
But yeah, ALL the feels from that, and still so many many shards of Equestria left to explore....
5137673
Not in those exact words but something to that effect. Glad someone caught the reference
5137325
Or in Twilight's case, three videos worth of doors. >^_^<
5137678
Happily, that's what fanfiction is for. That's one of the reasons why we're here.
5137774
Meh. Seems about right
Admiral, I about spit my coffee out when you said you’d be deleting your account! So glad you aren’t! My blog states my opinion of the whole thing, so I won’t repeat it here, other than to say, I’m glad you’re staying.
You scared the hell out of me, just so you know, Biscuit. Just for a second.
I truly believe our fandom will last for many decades to come. The amount of creativity, compassion and love that the show inspired will continue to bind us together and keep us going strong. The Magic of Friendship and the power of Harmony will be with each of us, always.

One line that I’ve always liked (from an otherwise eminently forgettable song)
It’s one of those “2 people talking back & forth” songs
“What are we doing hanging around with all these losers anyway?”
“But, all our friends are here!”
Nice. :)
(My comments so far today are probably not my best; still emotionally processing things and whatnot.)
Damn, why'd you spoil it for me, i haven't seen it yet. lol
Honestly, i'm hoping G5 learns some lessons from some of the other kids shows that attracted an adult audience (gravity falls, steven universe, Star vs. the forces of evil). MLP FIM was the first of the group, but other shows did it better.
I'll still be around, i'm not planning on going anywhere (at bare minimum, you need to wrap up onto the pony planet first lol). Maybe i'll finally get a fic out, great timing on that. After the shows over.
Not going to lie, I do like Ducktales and would love a story about Donald fixing his car...
5137331
Lol.
Hulu when I’m done watching Rick and Morty for the second time.
Please at least not delete the account.
- i think I tend to do most of things/meetings I value over internet .....so, atypical.
Fandoms never die. They just get weirder.
Heh, yeah. At least it was a better ending than Seinfeld. :p
But seriously it really has been quite a ride. A lot of friends and those I haven't seen in ages came crawling out their caves to catch this final season. Feels weird seeing something that's just been there a huge chunk of my life just end. Not many if any show ever got as much closure as FiM got. I'm so happy they left even heavily implied Hips up for interpretation, Lybon excluded hehe.
I'll miss just knowing there's fim eps I could watch atmy leisure to see new interactions and new cute background and side characters appear. But at least the writing side at least will continue on for a long time. It kinda feeds itself.
That said it's been quite the journey and I'm glad to see so many familiar faces and ever new ones join with their own set of stories to tell.
Cheers
5137307
Yes, very much so . . . that’s my hope, anyway.
5137308
It was! Best way to watch the final episodes, honestly.
5137325
Heck, I’ll be honest, at this point I’m content with the door I chose, easy slice of life with ponies and people.
5137331
5137340
Yes, indeed. I’m looking forward to the next slew of ponyfics.
5137363
It was a shame that the pic I took didn’t actually come out. Like, if I really zoom in, I can see the light wands, but nobody reading the blog would find them easily.
5137378
Yup, that’s what it was, all right.
derpicdn.net/img/view/2019/10/15/2169978.gif
5137447
I was shouting that during the episode
5137560

5137575
Tops of hills are good for that.
I haven’t been to the top of a good hill in a while; maybe I should....
5137579
Well, I’ve already got some ideas...
derpicdn.net/img/view/2013/9/29/437313.jpg
Not necessarily great ideas, but ideas.
5137647
Exactly!
5137676
5137678
It will still be a movie with ponies, dammit.
I know, right? The ride never ends!
5137774
Those were great videos. I hope there are more of them going forward.
A good half of my career on this site is “what’s the story with that background pony?” followed with “and then what happened next?”
5137853
That would be a terrible thing to do--after all, the whole point of fanfiction is to fill in the gaps that the show didn’t, and honestly we don’t actually need there to be new episodes to do that. Heck, in one of my long-runners, Twilight’s still just a unicorn.
5137901
I truly believe our fandom will last for many decades to come. The amount of creativity, compassion and love that the show inspired will continue to bind us together and keep us going strong.
I don’t know if I’d predict decades myself, but then maybe. There are people on this site and in the fandom that have been here since G1, and there’s no reason to think that droves of us will be
runninggalloping off to other pastures during the lull between S4 and S5.And that is the true legacy of the show.
5137927
Ooh, that’s a good song.
I know it, but I can’t remember from where.
5138323
As were many of us.

Let’s be honest, they were almost certainly blindsided by the adult fans at the beginning. Some of the shows that came along later probably learned from that and aimed differently to start with, at least that’s my opinion (haven’t seen much of any of those other shows).
Working on that Pony Planet thing . . . If all goes well, it’ll be in the hands of my pre-readers next week.
On the plus side, there’ll be no new canon to mess up your story, so that’s something.
