Type_Writer

Self-taught writer from Las Vegas, Nevada. I have no idea what I'm doing, but it seems to be working out okay so far. (Enjoying my writing? How about a tip? https://ko-fi.com/type_writer )

"Felidae" is a name I've used for a very long time.

Of course, the source is the scientific name for a cat; this was because I really liked cats when I was younger, and wanted to sound smart. (It's also the name of a movie about a cat solving a murder mystery, but the original name was unrelated. It is a pretty good movie, but definitely not for children.) Almost immediately afterwards, I actually started being exposed more to cats through family and friends, and rather lost interest. They're cute, and aesthetically nifty, but most are also sort of jerks and much more trouble to take care of personally than I have interest in.

In the intervening time, I've also gone by several other names. Specifically, Pegabutt and Vraddock. While the former is cute, and a pet name given to me by my boyfriend, it's not a name I can really use widely. "Vraddock" is a bit more specifically me, but it has... connotations, shall we say, and I am trying to distance myself from that writing nowadays.

"Type Writer" is a name that I've used for almost as long as "Felidae." When i was in high school, a very close friend (who I've since, to my regret, fallen deeply out of touch and communication with) gave me this piece of art.

Every day when I went to high school, this was how i dressed. Yes, that includes the jacket (for bonus points, I live in Nevada, so it looked especially crazy) and the hat (for some reason people seem unable to draw bowlers, though I don't fault her for this, as it still looks exceptionally cute.) She saw this every day, and even though we had only spoken briefly a few times, she decided I'd look good as a Pony. She didn't know I was into MLP, didn't know I was already a fan, had been here on FiMFiction for a year, even if I only read the occasional story and was still writing down ideas in a notebook when I was supposed to be learning at High School (hence the cutie mark.)

And suddenly I had an OC, when I didn't feel I needed one before, or hadn't been interested before, and I loved it, and it was a brilliant piece of art. It wasn't an instant adoption; I spent a couple years trying to convince artists he was an Earth Pony instead. But I came around to a Pegasus eventually, and I wouldn't have it any other way now, because whether in a game, in a plane, or even just in my imagination, I love flying. It fits more perfectly than I could have ever imagined the first time I ever saw it.

And eventually, i named him as well. "Type Writer," or "Type," for short. It works as a compound name, as a reference to writing, and as a jokey little bit of self-deprecation that I enjoy character and story tropes so much.

Going forward, this account will be named accordingly, because I want to start writing again. Really writing, not just clop and little unpublished things. i don't know what, I don't know when, I don't know how long or how cohesive it'll be. But I won't be going anywhere. I'll remain here on FiMFiction until the internet dies or I do, whichever happens first.

And I'll go by the name "Type_Writer."

Welcome back from your vacation!

I love the OC and the origin is just the best! Looking forward to whatever you decide to share.
