So I got to see the eclipse yesterday...

My family went on an all-day pilgrimage through the state to get to a good spot to watch it. Really cool to see happen. I'm gonna be in my 40's when it happens again. Maybe I'll have some actually published original stories out by then xD

What would you do about climate change? · 3:00pm Sep 23rd, 2019

(A) Do homework and research to see what the problems are, how bad they are, and brainstorm solutions that will both aide the environment and keep the economy going in a stable manner?

(B) Block roads down in Washington D.C. and in the process block innocent people from getting to work and what-not?

(C) Go down to Antarctica and wake up a giant three-headed space dragon and let him wipe out everything so we don't have to care anymore because for crying out loud, who are we supposed to believe these days?

I'd go with A. And failing that, C. I'm kind of weird like that.

Sorry, just a bit of a rant here. I'm sitting here shaking my head at the people doing what's mentioned in Option B today. Making a scene like that isn't going to solve anything. And I can't help but wonder how many of those people still actually use cars.

B - because it is the most reasonable, responsible, and most guaranteed to get anything done.

A is unreliable and there is so much false/contradictory information. Besides, you can't trust anything on the internet and all the books are wrong. Researchers skew their findings to the highest bidder, so you're only left with your feelings and heart for the truth. Besides, once we go full socialist, the economy won't matter.

I can't tell which parts are serious and which are sarcastic. :applejackunsure:

Look at the bright side: at least we now have a large number of younger generations will to combat climate change.

I'd prefer option A but in the current political climate, option B is unfortunately more likely to yield any results.

I dunno, folks...

I'm all for caring for/looking after the planet just as much as the next person. But these people are something else...

It was all written as sarcasm. Sorry for any confusion.

Like the OP, I'm just frustrated by people who call for climate change (or any other cause) and then do the most disruptive or destructive things, which end up being ineffective or further hurting their cause.
Just look at London earlier this year.

I literally facepalmed when I heard about the dumpster fire and the trash-throwing.

So they protest littering and burning of fossil fuels, and then they throw stuff in the streets and burn trash into the atmosphere anyway.

Y'know...because logic!

'Something else' is a fair term to use.

"The end is coming! Our coasts will be under water and our air will be choked up, and we'll all go extinct in the next decade! But we can still stop this! And all you have to do is vote for me...and maybe stop having children too."

The rhetoric in a nutshell.

Soylent green is coming.
It is real, people.

You think they would have gotten the hint when AOC rolled out her "Green New Deal".

Yeah, that went over well...

Oh yes, how could I forget that cheery little idea.

Option C is looking better and better all the time. At least kaiju would make the world a little more interesting...

I jest, of course. Sort of...

Saw that and loved it.

Something else I've been thinking of regarding that movie. Upon rewatching it, it almost feels like KOTM is a bit of a criticism of some of the save-the-earth ideas that are being thrown around. I doubt it was the actual intent, but I can't get it out of my head now.

Think about it: one person decides that humanity has gone too far with destroying the Earth for our own interests, and takes matters into their own hands to implement a plan that will result in massive changes and upheavals, and force everyone to radically change the way they live their lives.

Sounds kinda like the Green New Deal to me, or at least the gist of the idea.

And what eventually happens with Emma Russell's brilliant plan? It all goes south. New variables that she hadn't accounted for spring up in the form of King Ghidorah, and the plan goes completely off the rails and in the end, things end up worse off then Dr. Russell had promised. And she has no one to blame but herself.

The difference of course (besides the fact that, for better and for worse, there are no Titans in the real world) is that deep beneath Emma's shattered psyche, she still has a little bit of a conscience left, and actually shows at least a little hesitation and reluctance in putting people in danger like that. AOC, on the other hand, either has no idea what she's doing with this idea, or she does know what she's doing and is trying to go through with it anyway.

I'm not sure which is scarier.
