Herd Sovereign: The FoMEy's Response · 12:12pm Sep 21st, 2019
Now that you've all made your voices heard, I've made a plan for Imposing Sovereigns 2. I'm going to delay the start of the contest for a week to give everyone's creative juices a chance to recharge from the Sunset Shipper contest, and the submission period will stretch for at least five weeks after that, putting the due date somewhere in early to mid-November. And I've already put together a new set of themes for the non-character axis of the prompt, quite unlike the previous batch. This isn't going to be about who the princess is, but the challenges she faces in her reign.
Imposing Sovereigns: Once and Future begins September 29th. Details to follow. Feel free to voice any concerns; it'll help me make sure I don't miss anything in the FAQ.

Cool. I'll look out for it.

Yes. Ha ha ha, ha ha ha. Yes.
I'm excited to give it a try, as I never gave the first a try.
Yay! I missed the first one due to not being quite tuned into the rhythm of this site at that point, and I still regret not managing to finish my entry for the Villain Exchange Program. So I'm keen to get into a FOME contest, and this sounds like a good'un I'll be watching!
Challenges faced during a princess' reign? I think I might have a sneaking suspicion about at least one of them
Would participate, but fear I cannot. I promised myself and the, what, five people who are still interested? Anyway, I said I'd focus on other things, so focus I must.
Oh look, a shiny!
Alright let's do this!
Looking forward to this!
I might consider entering just to provide an additional layer of defense against accusations of trolling. (I only bothered making an account for commenting reasons, but then Phase 1 of the Godspyre was supposed to be the backstory of a different character than the one that Phases 2 and 3 focus on)
I'm curious about the conditions of entry. Word count limit was 10,000 last time, but soft on entries which exceeded that; will that be true this time as well? If it helps, I personally thought the hard 15,000 limit in the Sunset Shipping Contest was a good model for word limits, giving a generous amount and cutting out fuzzy areas.
There's also the question of what canon we can draw upon, e.g. Equestria Girls, the currently unaired episodes of Season Nine, and comics, plus whether or not Alternate Universes are acceptable.
I also remember last time it was a first-come, first-served basis when it came to claiming characters. Same again this time?
EDIT: Also, will there be a limit on how many entries one person can submit?
I might jump in on this one. I have so many fics planned as it is.

All excellent questions! You'll get the answers next Sunday.
In all seriousness, I'm probably going to go with a hard 15-kiloword limit. If it's aired in the States, it's fair game (so people who've seen the as-yet unaired episodes are strongly encouraged to wait for them to do so before publishing anything based on them.) EqG is absolutely welcome. AUs are encouraged, because otherwise there's a marked shortage of princesses to work with. Pre-established AUs—your Winningverses, your Triptych Continua, and so forth—are a tricky topic. I'm still deciding there.
First come, first served will be enforced, yes. Another reason to encourage AUs.
As for submission limits, you can submit as many stories as you like... but you can only have one incomplete slot at a time. You have to finish the story for that reserved character-prompt combination before you can claim another.
I wish I could participate, but between moving and searching for a new job, I barely have time to work on the fanfic I've already started, much less devote time to a new one.
What if we want to ignore the last couple of seasons? Is that acceptable?
Now I think about it, that would fall under AU... learn to read, me!
Excellent! Looking forward to it.
Oh no. I don't do competitions or contests or anything like that anymore.
Just Jaxie's speed writing group and I've still yet to actually do one because they're always when I'm at work
